Is anyone else seeing banner ads at the top of the forum?

Did I miss a post announcing this would be a new thing?

Ads are fine. I adblock most things but turn it off for sites I value.

I just wanted to make sure this wasn't some malware (or my ISP) that was injecting code (http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2013/04/how-a-banner-ad-for-hs-ok/) onto P-F.

I see we share the same quaint sense of ethics. *fistbump*

Why does it look like there is a DOB of 12/31/69 in the upper right corner of Tams post?

I suppose I should write something more professional sounding than "Electrons cost money, yo."

To generate revenue to keep the electrons flowing, we've enabled an ad service on the forum. By "service" I mean that it's basically an ad stream run by someone else who sends the forum account money and they stream the ad. The forum hasn't been individually sponsored by every entity that shows up in the stream...meaning VersaCarry hasn't cut us a check. (Good thing, too...I'm not a fan.)

In the future we'd like to expand into other areas like vendor accounts so that manufacturers/vendors have more options for interacting with their customer base, but getting that organized is easier said than done.

can site supporters pay more money to have the ads disabled?

So far I have seen a pile of VersaCarry and Ruger ads. Target marketing for sure.

We'll make sure to advertise a lot more holster makers.

I don't know if that's possible within the software that runs the forum...but do you think there'd be a lot of people who really wanted to pay extra just to miss a banner add?

Versa carry is just as good as a Keeper or SME methinks.

It would appear to give you the same cost to benefit ratio...

I'm wondering what Ruger's thinking with regards to the LC380. The LCP fits that niche more effectively (though not as effectively as a J-frame).

I was going to say, I don't know if I would wear it even if I was paid. With a gun in it that is.

Remember, the company's own website explains that carrying a gun with a round in the chamber is dangerous. So, you know, that.

Both the LCP and LC9 are pretty serious handfuls, especially for people who don't shoot a lot or have weak hands, arthritis, et cetera.

Not everybody who CCWs is young, fit, and wants to take up shooting as a hobby. Handing them a gun that is painful to shoot and exceedingly difficult for a novice to hit a target with is going to dissuade them from what little practice and training they might otherwise have undertaken.

Cause it could go off for like, no reason whatsoever.

If only there were some way to utilize some kind of next-generation technology to envelop the trigger area while the gun was holstered. But that's probably just science fiction.

Given the kind of guns favored by some folks in the target demographic, I'm not certain that's an entirely invalid premise. :o

After looking at that Masterpiece Arms MAC 11 clone, I'm beginning to wonder what's to stop the side mounted charging handle from hitting my hip or stomach when I shoot it?
