Nah, I suggest watching JV, joshs, or JConn for the real deal.

I will have to miss this one....will be at Ohiopyle on the bicycle trails with my girlfriend.....don't take this the wrong way, but I chose girlfriend over shooting.
Since I won't be there, someone needs to put their muzzle past cover when they fire....I won't be there to do it.

See you in May.

WARNING: I just lent Wheelgun Kent my Glock 17 for this event

I'm clueless ... why the warning?

chrismark420

Kent normally shoots revolver, and does it quite well. He and I were discussing how fast he could actually go if he had a semi-auto that he could reload faster, so I lent him my 17 for this go around. I for one am very curious to see how he does, and I know Todd has given him grief for how much better his score would be if he shot a Glock. Call it an experiment among friends if you will. Warning was more of a joke for everyone else, not meant to be taken seriously. Sadly, it means revolvers will go under-represented this time

chrismark420, you don't have to be shy. If you're saying you think Kent will be a danger to himself and others with one of those high capacity burst fire weapons on mass destruction, we will be sure to keep an extra eye on him.

To the range officer staff: I'll be wearing my hard plates so if anyone needs to borrow some soft armor, just PM me.

Todd,

Yeah, I figure with his spray-and-pray mentality of fire, he could use the extra rounds and magazines.

Look forward to seeing you Tuesday

Based on how often you shoot the whole match clean, my guess: nothing.

Thanks again for putting on another fun match.

Why is it that after bobbling the touch screen I keep thinking of this?

Thank you for an outstanding match. Stage 2 is my absolute favorite of all the stages since I started shooting KSTG, even though I only hit the interactive target on the second run (16 seconds) - featured in the video. My other favorite stage was the elevator which I believe was the March match?

Here's the short video for my second run. I had a lot more fun than my time/score would indicate :p

I'm having the same error message on the scorecard

Thanks to Todd, Joe, Josh, Fred and all the others for hosting a great match. I really liked shooting that stage over and over with reduced time each time. Great to see improvement each run, and there was enough time in between to think about different ways to game it

The company that hosts the forum (and therefore, these scores) changed something a while back and now it's difficult for me to do the raw score uploads.

The link should work now.

Thanks Todd for the spreadsheet.

I'm pleased with everything except for my classifier time. For the amount of time I actually spend practicing the FAST, I choked real bad. I had been doing ~8.5 seconds perfect in practice; ended up doing 8.76 with misses. Guess we're back to the range for more practice. Was definitely happy that my raw times on the second section got faster every time I did it. Wish I had gotten that final turning target. Was so close...

JV_

chrismark420: Are you practicing for the FAST by running a bunch of FASTs, or are you trying to get better at the skills needed to do well at the FAST - like the reload and a draw to a low probability shot?

chrismark420
04-24-2013, 03:51 PM
JV - I'll be honest, I'm mostly running the FAST a lot. Probably 25-30 runs per range session, unless I notice something going consistently wrong, where I'll switch move to work on that. My most recent range sessions, I was having issues with my first shot hitting. So I slowed it down and worked on my present and fire exclusively until I was able to draw, present and land the shot. Then I'd do it again till I felt I could do it consistently. Done the same for reloads, but I know I can definitely improve on that.

I'm open to suggestions, so bring on the advice. Drills, things to focus on, let me know. Thanks in advance

Thank you for coming out! :)

These matches are as much fun for us as they are (hopefully) for the folks that participate in them.

Great shooting and see you next month!

JV is right as usual. Practicing the FAST is just inefficient use of range time and ammo. Why? Because you're never practicing. You're just testing yourself again and again and again which means you're probably not focussing on any one discrete part of the drill for incremental improvement.

Does your reload need work? Why waste all that ammo and time just to get in one reload each run?

Are you struggling to make the head shots at speed? Why throw away 2/3 of your ammo on the 8" circle then?

And so on.

edited to add: of the FAST Coin holders, I bet none of them ever spent a big chunk of a day's practice shooting the FAST over and over again. OTOH, plenty of people who have spent a big chunk of a day's practice (or many days' practice) shooting the FAST over and over again have tried for a coin... and failed.

Thanks all. I hadn't seen that thread before, so I got some things to work on. I'll be working on the press out and fire at low prob shot over my next few range sessions.

Definitely makes sense, need work on the skill set rather than score. Looks like I have my work cut out over the next few weeks. This is why I come here: great advice from great folks.
