Last week I happened to run into Smith Custom Holsters' webpage on Facebook. Jason from SCT had ordered a Glock holster, mag carriers for his Glock and AR. I hit up Aaron (Smith Custom Holsters) and asked if he could rush out a holster to me with in a few days. (This was Saturday night) To my surprise, it was ready on Monday. I paid the invoice and it was at my doorstep on Wed. I was like sweeet, it made it in time for the carbine class.

When I got the box, my first impression was did he forget to package the holster? It was sooooo light.

Here are my initial impressions after running around with it for about a week.

Retention:
The holster has just the right amount of retention. Its holds the gun securely and is not so tight that you struggle to draw the gun. Walking, running and even jumping your pistol is secure. Over the weekend, I even worked on weak hand reloads. When re-holstering your pistol using your weakhand, (inserting the gun into the holster the opposite direction so that the magazine well is facing forward) the holster held the gun pretty solid and allowed me to reload a magazine into the gun and stayed put. With some holsters the trigger guard r is not completely covered. Aaron's holster covered the entire trigger guard and in doing so it does not effect your draw.

Comfort
The package also included a set of IWB clips in case I wanted a different mounting option. Both the OWB and IWB configurations for my holster was very comfortable. I'm not sure what the thickness of kydex Aaron uses to build his holsters but its so light that you hardly notice that its there. The holster sits very well at 3-5 o'clock and seems to wrap around the hips. Very comfortable and also conceals well.

Versatility
I was a bit surprised that aside the OWB/IWB configurations, it would attach securely to my ATS Molle Warbelt. Also with this holster, I can carry either a Glock 17, 19 or 26.

Strength
I've commented several times in regards to how light the holster is but in addition to being light its also a pretty strong package. If you happen to break this holster Aaron will build you a new one.

Overall Impression
I've run a lot of different gear and this holster for me is a must have due to comfort, strength and versatility. In fact, I'll probably order one for my M&P9 with light. The best part is that the current wait isn't 30-60 days. My gear was delivered to me in under week from the time I sent in the order.
