Hey All,

I'm primarily carrying a G19 lately and wanted to see if you all had any input on a relatively inexpensive AIWB holster to use while practicing with my SIRT pistol?

I would also prefer to find something that could potentially work for both pistols.

Got any suggestions for something that is somewhat readily available?

Thanks!

Jake

I purchased a Blade-Tech phantom series IWB holster (http://www.blade-tech.com/Phantom-Series-IWB-holster-pr-1212.html) and adjusted the loops for straight drop. It's uncomfortable and not good for concealment but it's cheap and available enough to be practically disposable. I used it for the SIM Glock at ECQC as well and it was nice not to worry about tearing up a hard to get unobtainium holster.

Dumb question, but why not use the AIWB holster you carry with? Unless you're running retention drills, any wear to your existing holster would be minimal.

Or do you not have one?

imho:

Any funds towards a cheap holster are better put towards a "QUALITY" Holster you will use. Each Manuf. & their AIWB offering will have a slightly different "feel": Retention, Rigidity, Thickness, Cant, Fit, etc.

Also, The SIRT being a Glock 17, Fullsize Slide, can work to being a plus for AIWB.

- A G17 Slide length holster for AIWB will help with Concealment, Heel of the Grip & Rear/Top Edge of the Slide printing.
- The G17 slide is only slightly longer than that of the G19.

Darkstargear took care of me (I carry a M&P9) and needed a stop gap. Supper fast and quality work.

Highly recommended.

I couldn't agree more...

When I started carrying, I didn't have a clue about holsters. I've probably spent close to $1000 on various holsters. No joke.

Now, after gaining practical experience, and wasting a lot of money, I've learned that buying ONE high-end holster would have been much much better. In the end, I'm down to using two holsters, both made by RCS.

Take my advice for what its worth (not much,) but please, don't ever buy a "cheap" holster. It isn't worth it...

Thank you, everyone for your input.

I currently do have some very nice HIGH QUALITY holsters for my Glock 19 (Strong Side & AIWB) however all but one (Vanguard) are closed at the muzzle and will not accept my SIRT pistol.

I'm going to give the Blade-Tech option a try.
