Before I knew of the quality produced by John, I picked up a Comp-Tac. Kydex reinforced 1 1/2

My next belt will come from John, no question.

Thanks,

Was a 36, been a 32 for 2.5 years. Plan on staying that way forever.

Drop me a line if a 32 gets returned due to uh... growth and I'll take it off your hands :-)

The best I have been able to find is the Comp-Tac kydex reinforced belt.

Ken makes some fantastic belts! I have one of his two-layer belts. I am fairly certain it will last the rest of my life. He was a pleasure to work with, and was very responsive to my questions. He also had a great turn-around time too. If I decide to get a second belt, a single layer one, I plan on doing business again with Ken.

Like others have said "best" is a subjective thing.

I had a leather milt sparks belt that was fantastic. I personally liked the curve that the belt is cut at. I also liked how well the belt was finished. It was a nice belt that could be used as a dress belt. But their wait time is a little excessive.

I would look to JRC holsters for a belt, he is a member here and supports these forums, same thing with 5 shot leather.

If I needed a leather belt those would be the two I would choose from.

These are my favorite, but be aware that they are so thick that they don't fit every holster I have. But they carry heavy guns with no outward cant of the grip. Can't even tell that my Shield is there on one of these hoss rigs.

These generally come highly rated by their owners:

I love the Galco dress belt: http://www.usgalco.com/HolsterP3.asp?ProductID=2866&CatalogID=254
I have one in black and one in brown.

For tactical belt, I like the Wilderness Instructor Belt: http://www.thewilderness.com/index.php?p=product&id=2309&parent=142
Galco makes one that is a clone of the Wilderness Belt, but it doesn't have as many size options. Choose carefully.

I'm happy with my kydex reinforced belt from Looper Leather. Changed the buckle though as it was a bit cheap looking.

I have a saddleback leather 1.5" belt that I really like, however the only thing I have to compare it to are cheap $20 belts that fall apart somewhere between months 3 and 6.

I use

http://www.thebeltman.net/

and

http://agcustomgunleather.com/quick-ship-leather-belts-3/.

The A&G belt is a little thicker than the beltman's. I use these two since you can generally get your belt within a month or less. That was the timeframe when I had ordered from them.

I like my Sparks and Rosen 1 1/4" belts best -- but for something to tide you over through the lead time, brownells generally has Alessi belts in stock, and they're excellent for 1.5" applications.

I have a couple of beltman belts and a JRC belt. The beltman belts are pretty good, but the one I wore all the time took quite a set and I find the JRC belt to be much nicer. It also seems to be holding up much better.

I purchased the Comp-Tac with the kydex insert. Not saying what is the best but for the money and delivery times it is a good belt.

I've got a Beltman and Crossbreed gun belt.

Both are wearing well.

I ordered an A&G in black and a Beltman in brown (quick ship option for both). The A&G is awesome but sent the Beltman back because A) it was too flimsy for a $90 gun belt and B) the keeper loop was so far away from the buckle that it interfered with my front left belt loop on my pants so the buckle looked off-center. If you get a Beltman, definitely get the reinforcement option. The cool part was they shipped both belts in less than 4 days.

I have to add that I have been satisfied with the Beltman gun belts for the past 6 years. I have used a couple.

Great service and product.

I am very happy with my Beltman. I was not very satisfied with my Comp-Tac (unreinforced).

I know, I know...

It isn't leather, but it is by leaps and bounds the best belt I've ever worn.

http://www.thewilderness.com/index.php?p=product&id=2309&parent=142

I needed a belt a few weeks back, and this belt came highly recommended to me, so, I went ahead and ordered one of the 5-stitch belts. It arrived about a week or so later, and I put the belt on right away. There hasn't been a day since that I *haven't* worn it. The more I use it, the more impressed I am with it. Vertical stiffness in the belt is superb...

For the price, I honestly don't think it can be beaten. The only reason I can see *not* to use the Wilderness Tactical belt is if your clothing style doesn't match the style of the belt. For me, it's no problem since I don't have any reason to wear a suit and tie.

Personally, I don't see myself switching back to a leather belt anytime soon here (and this, from someone that has access to leather, leather-working tools, and could easily make a belt of whatever sort of leather was desired).

He stated earlier in the thread that the lead time for a belt is 10-12 months.

The Beltman himself gave me a call last night and helped me with my keeper loop issue by trading it out for a more narrow one and relocating it closer to the buckle. He also informed me that having such a small waist, an internal stiffener won't be much help. I guess I should've called first (Duh!). He's a friendly guy who was very knowledgeable and helpful so I'm happy to give it another go. I was going to ask for a refund but being so convincing and accommodating, I just couldn't. It's like he's a Jedi. Should've known better than to return a belt made by The Beltman.
