Has anyone previously compiled data comparing muzzle energy and penetration?

Yes, although without looking at projectile construction and tissue type being penetrated, it is pretty meaningless, as you can have different projectiles with identical kinetic energy, but vastly differing penetration depths and tissue damage profiles.

I'm interested in the same projectile at varying velocities. Comparing something like the 124 HST from a G26, G19, G17, G34, sbr carbine, and a 16" carbine and then also some more rifle friendly handgun rounds.

Basically I'm curious to see what all of the non-linear factors really do given that much of them don't carry the weight people give them. I have my hunches but if the data were available I would crunch it up.

Got it. That has also been done as well over the years. With the 124 gr HST, there is minimal difference with a G26 to G17; as you move up to an MP5, than a 16" barrel, the projectile can get over-driven and the petals fold back against the shank, actually reducing expanded diameter.

Is this data out there anywhere?
