Here is an article (with a video) about a recent failed assassination attempt on Bulgarian Leader Ahmed Dogan. There was a pistol/ammo/shooter malfunction. But I'm curious, what kind of pistol was that?

Tough to tell from the poor quality of the imagery at the link, but it might be a PSS variant. The barrel and slide profile, and trigger guard, seem close; as does the relative grip frame length.

The SP4 captive piston round would be a natural choice if anticipating the need for a less obvious public engagement opportunity. Of course, the shooter in question does not appear to have cared to pursue the TTP options which the hardware may have offered. Its alleged armor penetration capabilities would also make sense if engaging a subject who might be wearing soft armor at a public appearance. If known to shooter, concerns about terminal effects may have led to the attempted head shot.
