Wow. Philip K. Dick would be envious of whatever that guy was on when he wrote that.

The sad part is how many people will read this and think "Yeah, what a great idea".

Facepalm is correct.

The latest Bond flick put this idea into a lot of otherwise empty heads. I just can't seem to convince these people that it's a bad idea, even as they're shouting at their latest Blue Screen of Death on their laptops.

Tell you what, let the FBI, TSA, Secret Service, and the Capitol Police adopt this technology first, and then use it in the field for a while as standard issue.

Technology is making us dumber? C'mon. The guy is an idiot. Blaming his iPhone for that is as stupid as him blaming guns for violence. Same thought pattern.

Building software into guns need not affect gun owners' desire to protect their homes. Trigger control software could be relaxed when the gun is at home or in a car, while other safety features stay on to prevent accidental discharges. Guns used by the police would be exempt from such controls.

Imagine that.

Imagine that.

I'd ask why it's acceptable to have police carrying unsafe weapons...

I want a cellphone with the reliability and durability of my Kalashnikov.

Not the other way around.

Well, there's another trillion dollars for a .gov funded research program that'll be added to the deficit... And the backs of the taxpayers. :P

While we are at we might as well create the guns from Judge Dredd that put you DNA into every bullet so we know who the actually pulled the trigger.

I seriously believe that this is the dumbest article I've ever read.

You can say that again.

And to think he got PAID to write that article!!!

I do believe this little snippet should explain what we're talking about....

Guns should "know" not to fire in schools, churches, hospitals or malls.

They should sense when they are being aimed at a child, or at a person when no other guns are nearby.

Luckily he's not working for the government. . . . . yet.

But... but... it worked for Sly Stallone in Judge Dredd.... (ok, the Lawgiver required POS ID for use but still...)
