View Full Version : 27-2 for a Colt CCG
Thinking about selling my 8 3/8 nickel 27-2 to get one of these Talo Colts. Should I? I'm really into 1911's right now & the CCG seems like a great base for a future customization.
That's an old 27? Pre-lock right? No. No old 27 for a new anything. That's my $0.02.
If you want a base for customization stalk the internets for old Colts. Or, pick a gunsmith and call them to verify what they'd suggest. I know for sure that they'll have an opinion.

If I had a M27, especially one in nickel, I'd hang on to it.
More money might be easier to come by than another M27, if you were to decide you made a mistake in getting rid of one.

Right. And I say that based on owning then trading out of a 6.5" registered magnum for what I don't even remember anymore. But I remember that N frame.

I have two Colt CCGs, and they're excellent. I don't have a 27-2. If I had a 27-2 and no CCGs, knowing what I know about the CCG, I'd keep the 27-2.

What do you know about them that makes you say that? I really just like they're plainness & they have the features I like such as beaver tail, NM barrel, no FCS. Only thing I would change is the front sight. What if you had 3 27-2's? Would you consider it then?

I am withholding my advice based on further information.
One important question I have: Were you looking for other people's responses as to what they'd do? Or were you looking for reinforcement of a decision you'd already made? ;)

I'm looking for encouragement to act. Be it to do it or not. I would like more info from Caleb as he has 2 of these with presumably decent round counts. I wonder if he has a NDA or something.

Okay.
If it were my decision?
I'd hold on to the 27-2. I don't think that bubble's even close to popping yet. Depending on the year of manufacture, condition, and suchlike, you might be able to sell that thing for Les Baer money in a very few years.
The sky seems to be the limit for Registered Magnums at the moment, and as they inflate, they pull the prices of the lesser pre-27s and 27s along in their wake turbulence.

You are wise. I guess I'll wait.

What I meant was that the CCG is a fine gun, but it's not really a collector's piece. If you're looking for a simple, shootable 1911 it's awesome, but I wouldn't trade a 27-2 for one.
I didn't even know about the CCG until this drew my attention and then I read Gun Nuts piece on them . . . nice. They would tempt me badly too.
Well, I'm keeping the 27 & I ordered the Colt.

CCG is a good pistol but so is the mod27.
I think you have made the right choice.

If you decide to change the stocks on the CCG, which I recommend, you'll need new grip screws too. The screws that come with it are designed for the thin CCG grips and won't work with regular profile grips.

Ahhhhhh! Thanks for the heads up!! Def gonna change those out with something pretty grippy
The Colt will be here in the morning! If Christmas wasn't yesterday, I'd say it feels like Christmas.
