I picked up one of the new carbon fiber barreled Ruger 10/22s.

I have plenty of .22s with scopes and I’m thinking of doing a red dot instead to keep the weight down as much as possible. The rifle weighs only 3.5lbs as it is.
Any recommendations? I was thinking maybe a Leupold DPP or some type of Holosun.
This will be just for plinking mostly, maybe some small game hunting.
I have a Primary Arms micro clone on my S&W 15-22 that’s held up well for a while. I also have a Bushnell TRS26 on a S&W FPC 9mm carbine that so far has been good. The Bushnell was about $150 including a mount.

I’ve got a handful of HS403 style Holosuns (basically a T-2 clone) that I’ve been vetting on a couple centerfire rifles. They come with a low mount and a 1/3 cowitness mount in the box. I have one on a 1301 also and they’ve held up well across the board. They’re a no-brainer on a rimfire rifle.

While not red or a dot...
PA SLx 1x Green ACSS. Mine needed an EGW 40 MOA rail to zero with CCISV at 50 yards.
DA Mask brings it to 4 lbs, 6 oz.

I recently put this Williams LRS on my LW compact 10/22 and I love it. Cool design to move the batter to the top so the line of sight is same as the factory irons.

The Holosun SCS MOS with a green dot (for older eyes), on an Armadyn Mfg (https://armadynemfg.com/) low base designed to mount directly on the top of the 10/22 without a rail makes a very solid setup for me. Good cheek weld with both the factory stock (pictured) and a replacement Magpul stock I just started using.

Thank you for this info. I just ordered this mount. I like the idea of the SCS no battery operation and light weight/low profile.

No relationship with the vendor; additional information.
That vendor sells the same mount for a wide variety of popular dot optics footprints. I found that the slightly thick base of a different dot with a battery underneath the window just as easy to use as the thinner SCS MOS when I did a different rifle with a different Holosun.
NOTE: don't over-torque the screws in the top of the 10/22. I found it very easy to strip a front hole in the top of that older receiver when I was using a scope before I bought the right kind of gunsmith torque wrench. I don't know if there's a spec, but I didn't strip my back holes at 15 INCH pounds (set with blue Loctite) and it hasn't budged under normal use. Not sure what would happen if I subjected the optic/base to abuse: I also have the HiViz 10/22 fiber optics set JIC.

The mount came today. According to their site it’s 10 inch lbs for the receiver screws and 15 for the sight screws. I used the ones that came with the SCS to mount it to the plate since they had a larger torx bit size. I tried the front of the receiver at first but moved it to the back as I think I like it there better.

Thanks for posting this, those things look very interesting, and a lot of specific bases seem to be available.
