Super cool gun though $3499 seems a bit high. A TRR8 is $1500 bucks. $350 for tk to do a 9mm conversion, an apex or REVup kit adds another $200 to $250. Then a 507 comp and plate for $400 still gets you there with a couple cases of ammo to spare. But it sure does look great.

Odd that they classify it as a medium frame.

$3,499 IS a bit high--UNLESS it's the ACTUAL gun Scary Jerry used to set the Record--Unlikely, I know... :)

That's a Vortex Defender (DPP footprint) - likely because JM shoots for Vortex.

Though it's apparently an 8 MOA version (VORTEX COMPDOT™ 8MOA) which is new. The Defender was previously released only with 3 and 6 MOA dots.

More interesting is:

C.O.R.E. Optic-plate system - New C.O.R.E.™ system for revolvers that allow you to mount a wide range of red dot optics available on the market.

So does this CORE system use the same plates as M&P pistols ?

It would be a nice for steel challenge. I don't know what else an ultralight 9mm N frame would really be good for, and that price is insane.

It’s a limited run, 1,880 of them to celebrate his 1.88 plate record, so one of the objectives is to be expensive.

It does appear to be double stacked plates. I think if rather have an alchin or d&l etc to get them a bit lower. Maybe a minor difference but they're high enough that every bit helps. Plus plates to plates is another screw to get loose.

Odd that they classify it as a medium frame.

Had to be a typo, as they list as an n frame.

"Only" $2,999 if you pre-order at KY Gun Co.--Think I'll wait until they're on Clearance at CDNN... :)

Yeah that looks way taller than the existing EGW, Alchin, and JP mounts. I highly doubt they changed the adjustable sight footprint, so I'm not sure what benefit this has other than it's "factory".

I love the idea of this gun as I like 9mm and don't want to have yet another round with something like 44 or 357 which is part of hwy I don't have any revolvers currently. If they ever make a version that's closr to $1000-1500 I'd buy it tomorrow but at $3000 it's a hard pass.

I made that same joke with my friend. If this is the exact gun Jerry used I'd spend $3500 on it.

Imagine spending $3500 on a limited edition commemorative race gun that has that stupid fucking internal lock.

I really hope that Smith releases a plain all steel 8 shot 9mm sometime. I have the basic 627 with the 5" barrel and I would love to have a 9mm version for about the same price. I know I can get it cut for 9mm by TK custom (but that price can buy a lot of starline 38 short colt brass!), but having the option of getting one in 9mm from the factory seems like a smart model to release. Shame that they essentially only sell the long barreled version in 9mm (and now this limited edition one).

that stupid fucking internal lock.

I think we could complain about that until the heat death of the Universe before they'd consider changing it.

I initially thought it was in .327. lol Too much .32 talk around these parts.

Maybe one day they will drop the lock on all of their guns.

I’m not certain but it looks like a short cylinder, i.e. cut to 9mm length, like the old .38 wad cutter only conversion.

I got a chance to handle one today. I don't like jm grips (already knew that going in) but the trigger was good, 327's handle nicely, and the compdot was huge! It's a nicer package in person and i actually want one now...If i ever come across one in the $2500 range (and while able to buy) i would swallow that price without much thought. I would still want an allchin, to get the dot lower and eliminate the stacked plate. But otherwise a cool package.
