There is a certain low level logic to it. Unfortunately it does not account for all the reasons why we don't want to go putting our fingers anywhere inside the trigger guard.

It is, but it is a thought that was not continued. Another split second is all it takes. Unfortunately this stupid move has a name so therefore it will be copied over and over.

I get such an education from this website....
August 21, 2012 Urban Word of the Day
A simple, undefined reply when an ignorant comment or action is made. Brought to life in the South Park series, when Mr. Derp made a guest apperance at South Park Elementary as the chef for a day, followed by hitting himself in the head with a hammer and exclaiming "Derp!"

Somebody's going to get seriously hurt, or killed, from using this "technique".

If only someone would come out with some type of "Gadget" that would increase safety while reholstering...

Obviously a spelling error. Instead of the Babineaux method, it should be called the Boudreaux method.

The good part of that procedure is that it removes the ignorant shooter's ability to procreate after a few reholstering drills.

"To ensure safe holstering, today’s professionals are beginning to utilize a method that has become known as the Babineaux Method."

Obviously, none of you are "today's professionals". Your time has passed.

When I saw that, my very first thought was "{citation needed}".

Like Tam, I'm really curious who these "top pros" are that now use a technique that puts your finger in the trigger guard while holstering.

Why are people so g** d*** stupid? I mean, would it kill people to have an ounce of sense?

Why use your finger to prevent unwanted trigger movement when you can buy a piece of plastic to jam in there? http://www.clipdraw.com/store/index.php?rn=396&action=show_detail

Or, for the more discerning among us, you can get a trigger with a built in cross-bolt safety! http://www.siderlock.com/?section=features

WHO manipulations have never been so slow/awkward/dangerous!

I keep forgetting that now I have access to a blog. One that people read, and stuff. http://gunnuts.net/2012/11/17/the-babineaux-method-is-a-bad-idea/

Any complaints based on the idea that some human beings are so high speed that they're no longer subject to the foibles of human nature should be addressed to Caleb. He handles all the complaints.

I just handle the ridiculously hot chicks and large sums of untraceable cash.

A very real problem I see is a personal observation on Hick's law type stuff.

We can easily do this-or-that under almost any circumstances, but when we add a third option things start to get really F'd up quickly under stress or fatigue.

Example; I used to regularly see cops running around with a pistol in a duty rig with the retention device unsecure. Happened all the time due to guys going off the normal "locked in the holster or out in a firing grip" this-or-that choices we have that actually work.
Trying to game the draw by popping the retention device early because you don't train and thus suck, or failing to lock it in the holster because you are lazy/or don't train and thus suck is what added the third option and had the coppers setting themselves up for failure.

Bad ju-ju.

IMHO the trigger finger should be in a shooting position on the trigger getting ready to make the gun go bang/making the gun go bang, or in a hard register outside of the trigger guard.

It is insufficient under stress to even say "outside the triiger guard/off the trigger", and IMHO not enough trainers are teaching the hard register idea for "outside of the trigger guard".

Adding a third trigger finger duty to the mix of things the trigger finger has to do is a massive failure to see human reality.
