jetfire are these made in Brazil, the states, or an Italian import?
I'm a huge SAA fan, hopefully another good shooter option. The email mentioned durability enhancements.

With the crappy hammer safety on new Italian revolvers I’d be willing to give it a look.

Ubertis have the hammer safety, but many Piettas do not.
This Taurus has a transfer bar, like a Ruger.
Id be in for a 357 if its close to $400. Not really big into SAA but this past spring i picked up a cheap Italian SAA in 45LC and ever since have been looking for an inexpensive 357.

Ah, I though both the Piettas and Ubertis did now, my mistake.

If you have a question about whether a specific model is a Pietta or Uberti from one of the importers, shoot me a PM, I've accidentally become an expert haha.

I dig it and, while I understand the necessity-of-space, I really wish manufacturers wouldn’t roll mark the barrels so heavily.

Or at least put them on the bottom of the barrel.

I've seen a lot worse- a wall of lawyer text is much worse than the Taurus Deputy logo on this.
What's going on with that base pin?

On one of the pictures on the site it shows, "Taurus Armas / Made in Brazil" on the right side of the gun. Which would make sense given Brazil's prior experience manufacturing SAA type guns under the "Gaucho" name.
What's going on with that base pin?
Looks like a safety pin that can be pushed all the way in to prevent the hammer from striking the transfer bar, with 2 detent positions.
I think its for some kind of import requirement for a safety or something. Some Italian imports do it.
But thats just a wild guess
On FB Caleb said it has four clicks on cocking.

parts are fabricated in Brazil, assembled in the USA. Not an eye-tie import, and most importantly has a transfer bar safety so you can carry with six on board

I am going to snag one of the .357 versions with the 4.75" barrel. I'll bring it to Tac-Con and see if Doc Barranti will make me a rig for it.
I have absolutely no legitimate use for this other than having stupid amounts of fun at the range with friends. We can all take turns yelling "Fill your hands you son of a *****!"
If jlw is able to attend, we'll let him take first crack at it.

This looks like it was a lot of fun to be a part of; jetfire, is this a different finish? And I assume most SAA-clone grips will (may/should?) fit?

Modern SAA clone grips will fit. Dimensionally, the gun is basically the same size as a modern Colt SAA, so it's smaller than the Vaquero by a bit

For some silly reason I have one of these inbound, a 4 3/4" .45 Colt, so I'll try to give a report once it arrives and I get it to the range. I've also got a Uberti I need to shoot in the same configuration so I'll do a side by side with the two.

Cowboy regulators.
I'm your huckleberry.
I've been to Tombstone. Met Wyatt Earp in person.
These two hombres took exception to something I said.

I would like to look at one but none are showing up at the big box dealers here.

With that “Arthur I” thing starting to make itself felt, in the second knuckle of both of my trigger fingers, during my long-stroke double-action dry fire routine, well, single-action sixgunning is getting a fresh look… Well, actually, I just stopped my DA dry-fire routine, this past week. (I will give it a rest, and then, slowly resume with just my smaller-frame DA revolvers, which have a different geometry, a different finger placement, and so a different dynamic.)
Yippee Ki Yay, and all that…
I have several US Firearms Single Actions, a Standard Manufacturing, and a Ruger Blackhawk Bisley. No experience, yet, with any Tauri.

rip to US Firearms; still can't believe how they went out.
What do you think of that Standard?

For the sake of not derailing the thread: I am definitely interested in the Deputy! I just realized - especially after watching a video on YT to confirm - that despite adding the transfer bar, they otherwise left the manual of arms for it like an SAA. I grew up with a retrofitted Blackhawk in .30 Carbine in the household, so this is exactly what I'm used to.

Yes, it is a shame that the owner of USFA seemed to have just stopped caring, and let USFA fall apart. The Standard is certainly well-fitted and well-finished. I have yet to shoot it.

Those are both on the larger Uberti-size frame I think? USFA sold off their single action revolver machinery to finanace the Zip gun. Standard started producing US-made guns, on the same Uberti-size pattern, in roughly the same place (CT) around that time. Which seems awfully coincidental.
Idle curiosity... anyone know if the Taurus is Colt or Uberti size?
Also Tombstone is a blast. Worth the trip if you're in Arizona.

I noticed Davidson's website currently shows - as of the time of this very post - has both barrel lengths of the .357 and the 5.5" of the .45 in stock.
Has anyone either had a chance to handle one in the past couple of months or seen a good review posted? I didn't see anything new on youtube - there are a couple of brief reviews from the first wave of releases after SHOT show but nothing new.
Really thinking of scooping one up but would like to see more feedback from folks.

I had 4 3/4” .45 briefly but sold it prior to shooting it. It seemed to be the same size as a Cimarron but I didn’t take any measurements. The finish wasn’t anything to write home about but it seemed fine otherwise, basically a Colt clone with a transfer bar instead of the floating firing pin Uberti has gone to. I definitely like the idea of the revolver. The base pin bushing on the front of the cylinder literally fell out when I removed the cylinder so be careful of that.
"Assuming" these won't be Ruger Blackhawk strong....
Clone/original SAA strong.
