I like it. Curious what the weight difference is overall, and also curious how much the barrel helps reduce recoil vs a barrel/comp setup. Hoping someone here with more disposable income can do some comparisons :D

Oh yeah, that’s going in “the list!”

Hmm. I’d like to hear from someone who has shot it about the reach on the da.

In general, or with the GG flat trigger?

Just when I thought the PX4 couldn't get any uglier...Impressive.

The flat trigger. Mainly the angle and how far forward it is. I wouldn’t make a judgement unless I had tried it.

{edit: quote doesn't need the video itself}

All the flat shooting accuracy things in one go. Except this: like the 92x Performance, IMO a metal frame is needed to add mass and "make the gun even more stable and minimize jump during firing" (from the 92x page).

It would be ... let's see, PX4 G, accurized, metal frame: a Cougar. Can has in .45?

It’s about as far forward as my GG flat trigger equipped P30s, but a LEM takeup is very different from TDA. I’d want to handle one first.

We had one as a T&E from Beretta around 2009-10, when we were looking at new duty guns. It had some good qualities, but folks were looking for a shuttle bus to get from the backstrap to the trigger...and this new trigger looks worse in that regard.

What I don't understand: a PX4 Special Duty already exists (at least in Europe), as a .45 ACP with threaded barrel. So this new PX4 Special Duty is now a regular PX4 fullsize with heavier barrel?

Yes, it's a 9mm PX4 with a heavier barrel.

The .45 Special Duty was developed around 2010 for US Military trials. https://www.beretta.com/en-us/product/px4-storm-sd-type-f-FA0064

The 9mm/.40 S&W guns are different size guns than the .45 Auto guns.

That makes sense, thank you! So that means we should also see this model show up internationally in the future? I mean, there is no indication that this is somehow a Beretta USA or Langdon exclusive, right?

That’s a good question. It was developed jointly by Beretta and Langdon Tactical. From what Ben-G has explained, I think the G-SDs will be produced in Italy… so, you think they’d sell it anywhere they sell PX4s (which are all made in Italy), not just in the USA. But who knows.

I’m wondering if it will only be available for purchase through LTT or if any distributor/reseller can carry them. Can you purchase guns through LTT where you are?

I’m wondering if Beretta might offer the thicker 9mm barrel by itself. I’m also wondering if it is the same OD as the .40 barrel?

However, I have tested a standard 9mm barrel in a .40 slide. Yes, the muzzle end of the barrel was loose in the slide, but that’s also an issue with most 92-style pistols. The main lockup happens in the grooved lug area or the locking block of a 92. Honestly, I’m far from an expert shooter, but in my hands the 9mm barrel in the 40 slide grouped about the same as the 40 barrel.

And since we’re in the subject of PX4 barrels, I just compared a 40 & a 45 barrel. I didn’t put calipers on them, but they appear to be the same OD. The main difference is in the length on the breach side of the lug area.

Importing guns from the US to Germany is a huge hassle. Besides the madness of importing a gun made in Italy to Germany from the US
We'll see if Beretta offers it directly worldwide.

You can't just swap the barrel in on a .40 slide and have it function correctly because of the extractor location. The slide is more or less a 9mm slide with a .40 bored muzzle hole.

Ben_G

Can you confirm what the slide finish/treatment is on this model and the new CC2? I've seen dealers advertise as Bruniton but it sort of looks like Cerakote to my eyes in many photos.

Does anybody know what the standard Recoil Spring weight is on the Full Size & Compact 9mm models are? I'd expect it to be similar to the 92's at around 13-14 lbs. but the unique barrel lock makes me wonder if I'm way off on that guess.
