Christmas bonus time is around the corner and a 9mm AR15 has always caught my attention.
I'm already set up to reload 9mm so why not, trying not to break the shooting budget.

Colt 6450 is the first that comes to mind, are there any other reliable options?

Experiences with 9mm platforms is welcomed.

I guess my first question would be why? The colt works well if you're looking for one.

To answer your question, always wanted one and already have all of the reloading supplies to keep it running without the investment of 556.

I have a 9mm AR made by Lone Wolf that takes Glock magazines. I have probably 500ish rounds through it. The only issue I have with it is that if a magazine is inserted with the bolt manually locked back, it will not feed the first round 100% by tripping the bolt release. If the magazines are inserted against a closed bolt & the charging handle used to run the bolt, no problem. The range that I am a member of only allows pistol caliber rifles to be shot in the action pistol bays as they feel the berms are not sufficient height to contain center fire rifle rounds. I own this rifle specifically to be able to use it in the action pistol bays during IDPA stages that incorporate a long gun.

I've had a Rock River Arms 9mm AR15 for about 5 years now and I've had no problems with it after about 15,000 rounds through it. My range only allows pistol caliber rifles as well in the action pistol bays. I contribute much of my improvement with skill of arms for the carbine to using this gun.

Being in the same situation, with the same desired end state, I looked at the same options.

After talking to some folks who ran Colt SMG's, and a few other experienced smith's and dealers, nothing in the 9mm AR realm was found to meet my requirements. I passed on the 9mm option, and am not upset about it.

Thanks for the input Sean and gents, guess I'll just have to give Enos a call get get some more equipment for the the blue machine and dive into the 556 game.

A DDV7 is looking mighty nice and the V4 IIRC with the light wieght smooth rail is very intriguing. Shoot Walmart is now selling 6920's.....ohh the decisions we have to make in life.

I recently acquired both a Colt LT6720-R and a DDM4V7lw. I love those M4 carbines with the light weight barrels. I like them both, but if I had to pick between them, I would pick the DD.

If you're still looking at a 9MM AR, try taking a look at Double Diamond LES. They offer lowers for both Colt mags as well as Glock happy sticks. That was the route I was going to go but life caught up with me and funds went by the wayside.

Actually Trots new rifle looks interesting. Dicks sporting good has it for around 1k and sales regularly.
