I have a chance to trade into either a hk uspc .40, sa/da or sig 229 .40.I've never owned either any input?assuming both come with 2 mags.how do the triggers compare, or factory support?

Given that choice, I'd take the Sig P229. I have never liked the ergonomics of the USP series, and when coupled with .40 S&W I would like it even less.

The Sig's trigger can be upgraded to their excellent Short Reset Trigger (SRT) which then makes the P229 even better to shoot.

is the SRT something you can do yourself or is it a factory thing?
would you compare the hk .40 to a 23 for size and felt recoil?

+ 1 as well as I find the DA/SA on the Sig to have a nicer feel than the HK.

I'd go with the Sig. You can have a Sig armorer install the SRT, which is what I'd do if you're going to be carrying it. If its just a range toy, its not too hard to install yourself.

Of the two I would go with the Sig. Mainly because of my love affair with my W German P 226

Another vote for the SIG. I like the trigger alot better on my SIGs than the USP I tried.

well its been changed to a 40 229 instead of a 9mm, but it seems like most prefer the sig.

.... but keep in mind we, collectively and individually, come from different perspectives, experiences, etc.

Frankly, I don't care for either of the options ... especially in DA/SA ... AND double especially in .40. That doesn't make either a bad choice ... just not for me. If I had to choose between those two options I'd personally take the USPc but that's just me.

What year was the Sig manufactured?

I own, shoot, carry, and love my USPc .40, but I'd be inclined to go with the 229 anyway simply for caliber. If you go with the USP, spend the $80-100 to convert it to LEM.

well, the story is I figured I'd get rid of a S&W 1911pd and I had 2 good offers a hk uspc .40 and a 229 .40 with 250 rds through it.it turns out that the hk backed out which sounds like good news because the 229 comes with 4 extra new in the wrap mags. when I was talking to the owner about meeting he was talking about the sig and that all it says on it is 229 sas.so I think I'm making out pretty good.:D

first trip with my new P229SAS I'm glad the other guy backed out of the trade for the HK, this thing is like new.2009 date code, nice trigger, now I just need to get a holster for it.I'm looking at a front line holster anyone use these?I also checked the alignment of my new night sights on my Stoeger Cougar, which I really like the trigger feels heavy in da mode but I have 400 trouble free rds. through so far , it just feels great in my hand.

I didn't enjoy shooting the P229 in .40. Partly because the grip is too small for me so it was hard to shoot quickly and accurately with that .40 snappy recoil.. I would much rather shoot .40 out of the HK. But as others said the Hk will need a trigger job.You couldn't give me a current model Sig of any kind due to poor quality control andlow quality parts in current Sigs.

I traded my 229 to another member for his 226,I like the 226 better and last I heard he liked the 229 better so everyone is happy.

Congrats on your new to you 226. I owned both the 226 and 229 and prefered the looks of the 226, however shot the 229 far better than the 226...so the 226 was sold to a friend that needed a reliable gun.

I have a front line holster for glocks. The model that I have has a Teflon liner that is super slick. I ordered it on eBay and it came directly from Israel. The only gripe was the wait, probably 4 weeks to arrive.

Congrats again.

I echo what some the others are saying. I shot a p2000 DA/SA in .40 and it was very accurate but had more than snap in the recoile department. I shot a sig229 and it's probably the best shooting .40 I've shot. It recoils very softly and was very accurate even when rapid firing. The trigger is soft and mushy feeling however it worked extremely well. I would love to have 229. Sounds like you made a good choice OP.
