Where to mount red dot on Ruger 10/22?

I have a Vortex Crossfire on a Leapers picatinny rail. Where should I put the optic? On my AR, I have it about mid-receiver but that's a totally different platform (good balance of sight picture/peripheral view). This will be for range fun and eventual small game hunting. Thanks.

I usually mount my dots as far forward on the receiver as I can.

Over the ejection port seems to be a good starting point for my eyes when mounting dots on rifles.
