We are tripling our monthly outlay and getting a dedicated server which should fix a lot of access and speed issues. After that, we will be upgrading to the newest forum software and possibly doing a PF mobile app.

I'm sure the hats are right after!

😂

Thanks LL. This place is the only site I use consistently other than my email.

Ditto. (Not the hat part)

(Hats would be cool though)

Anyone else notice the improved speed of the forum?

I wasn't looking for it, but now you mention it, it seems pretty snappy at the moment, LL. Not lightning speed, but responsive.

FWIW - the site's been running fine for me for many months.

Great to hear.

Will this new upgrade offer 2FA?

How about "dark mode"?

https://pistol-forum.com/showthread.php?41959-Dark-Mode-for-PF

My @ function seems to still be randomly not working (as in, still not working, as of a few days ago.)

https://pistol-forum.com/showthread.php?49390-My-quot-quot-(mention)-function-seems-to-be-broke

Not bitching (ok well, a little*) but all of these things add up to p-f not adding up to the best user experience it could be, compared to other options (read: Xenforo-based, VeticalScope-owned forums) these days. I mean, the content is what keeps me coming back here, of course. It just would be nice if these relatively minor things above were addressed in any planned upgrade. If not, no problem either way, really. I don't plan to go anywhere.

Seeing a huge speed increase from work, mobile, and home.

Yes, a lot of upgrades are coming. However, I’m very cautious with this forum insofar as third party addons.

This is great to hear, though I’m going to miss the 1990s. :p

Yesterday I started seeing an issue I’ve never experienced before. Normally I browse the forum using the default mobile setting on my cell phone. I click on the what’s new button to see new posts in threads. Yesterday, clicking on the what’s new button would instead trigger the search function. I can’t get the what’s new button to work on the default mobile setting in either Brave or Chrome. I now have to browse using the desktop setting.

Checking into this.

Thanks. It also happens when clicking the Friends button which is located between the Search and What’s New? buttons. On the bright side, I am noticing improved speeds.

Same here.

Posting seems to be just as slow but that could be my very slow DSL.

After all the changes will we still be able to access the forum using Tapatalk? Thanks.

Add me to the list of folks who haven't seen any improvement.

I spend a lot of time waiting for the circling object to become the PF logo.

Yep faster and better. But what about the hats? We need hats too.

Forum was noticeably snappier for a few days last week, but, has been back to on-and-off sluggish this morning...

Now that ya mention it...

ETA: A big change seems to be when submitting posts. There have been a couple times in the past where I may have but some effort into a post that had me a little concerned when it took a bit to load up. A couple times I clipboarded everything before I submitted it.

Any certain threads that are worse than others? It's still hauling ass for me from multiple locations.

Not this morning.... I had some slow responses clicking the like button that seemed to be independent of thread/forum.etc. Also had some old-style lag opening threads and going to next pages that also did not seem to be in any particular thread or sub forum....

Back to being snappy currently...

Sorry that's not much help.... I'll pay closer attention to the details if it happens again...

It's been fairly quick until...

Hit a Succuri firewall not configured error a couple minutes ago. Didn't screenshot it and it went away but a lot of lag now. I'm assuming it's part of tuning in the new server, etc but figured I'd throw it out there in the meantime.

My little blue circle spins on my browser tab (Chrome) just as much as it always did (almost constantly). Don't really know that it's a problem though, the site is still pretty snappy now. It's noticeably improved.

Was posting fine this morning until 0727 CDT

1. From the thread Shithole cities i hit "reply with quote"....
Composed reply and hit submit... got hang until 500 error timeout...

104785

2. Back button and try again with same result at 0729

3. Clear cache and restart browser (FF)

4. Try again to "reply with quote" from same thread. Same 500 error after about 60 seconds.

Hopefully this post is successful
