I need to get my duty pistol milled for an ACRO P2. It's a Glock model 45. I'd like the slide nitrided or similar after milling. What shop does everyone recommend? I see Jagerwerks online, but have no idea on the quality of their work. I'm more concerned about quality than fast turnaround times, within reason.

Maple Leaf. They do superb work. Also pretty quick, about 4-5 weeks with nitriding.

I’ve had really good service three times now from Battle Werx in CT - they direct milled a pair of RMRccs and a RMR plus nitriding. Turnaround was quick and the work was flawless.

I used CHPWS for my 1911.
Their work was flawless. Ten day turn-around, from me shipping to back in my hands.

I’ve been to their shop numerous times….latest equipment, attention to detail….adding new equipment as well. Scott Milam’s Dad owns Cajun Gun Works.

Maple Leaf did my Acro cut and it was high quality work, but he is not the fastest by any means.

While I'm sure the other recommendations are good, I highly recommend Jeremy Daugherty and Vulcan Machinewerx, Plano, TX. His work is excellent, turnaround time excellent and they're the only authorized vendor for slide milling services in some big departments around DFW.

I’ve used Jagerwerks for slide milling. The price was good and the work was good but the turnaround time was several months long. I’ve heard good things about Maple Leaf all over the forum for years now. My next slide that needs milling will probably go to them.

I just sent an M&P to Jagerwerks and expected it to take months and they shipped it back in a week. It was for Trijicon, and that seems simpler than the Aimpoint, and I skipped the coating since the sight covers the exposed stainless.

I've got three slides cut by Atei (two M&P/Acro, one Glock/RMR) and three by Fink's Custom Gunsmithing (Shield/Holosun; M&P/Holosun; Staccato/Acro), as well as one done by L&M Precision who is out of business.

I can wholeheartedly recommend Atei and Fink's. I have not seen any of Jagerwerks or Maple Leaf's work. I'd suggest reading here on P-F for feedback on the other companies.

I had mine refinished after the milling and my guess is that’s what added a decent amount of time.

I highly recommend Stone Bridge Gunworks (https://stonebridgegunworks.com/Slide-Milling-Services_c_27.html). Vince Hall has provided excellent customer service, and the work has been top notch on the 2 CZs I've had milled there.

I have slides by ATEi and Maple Leaf. ATEi is advantageous because of their Shim Sight, which is basically ideal for BUIS in my opinion. Though the quality was great, ATEi took thirteen weeks on my slide with no refinishing. Maple Leaf did an RMR cut with nitride in about five weeks and it’s also quite good.

I bought an adapter plate from C&H Precision for my Glock 'cause the Glock ones suck. They have good plates and apparently do good millwork too I hear. Guy I know just got a new red dot that uses Docter footprint and C&H milled his slide perfectly. He sent the specs to them from the sight manufacturer and I believe there keeping it on hand. So if he wants a different slide milled it's already prepped in their system.

I've had three slides done by Maple Leaf with their Duty Cut package and had no issues with any of them. As far as I can tell as a layman, it's solid work.

GJM recommended Maple Leaf to me, so I gave them a try.

Was very happy with the results.

The turn around time was less than projected.

Wager Machine did an outstanding job on my CZ P10F with a very fast turnaround and excellent customer service. Recommended.

I’ve had optic milling done by L&M, battlewerx, C&H, and recently maple leaf.

The maple leaf cuts (1 M&P, 1 Glock) are the loosest pockets of them all. Going somewhere else next time

Jagerwerks is running a Black Friday sale: Optic milling for $80 and nitride refinish for an additional $20. It’ll probably take a while to get your slide back but the workmanship will be solid.

That’s a great deal - I know mine from another vendor were $160 normal pricing.

Have you ever noticed how these threads always turn into "I used (insert name)."?

Does the fact that you used them make them "best"?

How else could a thread like this go? There isn’t a governing body for accreditation or anything like that. I’ve never heard of anyone putting the time and money in to buy samples of every company’s work for an in-depth comparison. All you have is personal experience with a company and whether the end result was up to your standards. For example, I haven’t had any work done by Maple Leaf yet but there have been so many positive posts from people who have that I wouldn’t have any issue with sending them a slide for milling and refinishing.

It’s a good point. At least we have a list that omits or calls out shops that people have had poor results from.

Which pistol is best?

I carry a Glock.
I carry a 1911.
I carry an M&P.
I carry a CZ.
I carry a P30.

How is that any different?

That’s my point. There’s no objective criteria established in the question. Which is best? Best by what metrics? Cost? Turnaround time? Number of options offered? Tightest tolerances resulting in the best fit between optic and slide? People have to make recommendations based on their experiences with services offered because there’s nothing else on the table.

The terminology of "best" is the problem. They are all done on CNC machines, they should all pretty much be the same.
Just like pistols or pickup trucks, there are many good ones, probably no such thing as a best one.

Quit bitching Lee, get some Bruams ice cream and put out another great podcast.

On this subject... I don't know who's best for milling. But I've had work done by Jagerwerks and C&H Precision. Both did great work. But Jagerwerks took forever. Literally just got a G19 slide back from C&H yesterday. C&H took 1 week to do my G42 and 2 weeks to do this last 19.

I have been exploring the milling options for HK USP/c and P30, just saw this picture on HK Pro of someone who said they did his USP/c pictured here including the plate. Glad to know one of our members has knowledge of this outfit who was really not on my radar for HK milling. Waiting on a quote, I have not been wild about paying $450 to get a USPC milled based on the other option I was aware of.

Also on the subject, I just got my third Glock project back from Nameless Armament, for what he does, his turn around time was outstanding and the work was good.

Impact prices

$150 to mill USP or USP/c
$130 to mill P30
$125 for the pictured plate with a milled in rear sight for either
$45 if he provides and installs the Dawson FO front

I do my own front sights on HK's because I have the MGW pusher, plus I don't care for fiber optics, so I will likely skip that part and install an iron sight, $275 to get my USP/c or P30 where I want it to be...I will report back when the project is complete.

Nameless armament. Great work and quick turnaround.

I’d like to second the recommendation for Nameless Armament. I sent my 43X MOS slide to them for their RMR CC cut. Turnaround was less than 2 weeks and included (for additional cost) Cerakoting the milled area. Very happy with the tiny Glock.
