You are right there is a little extra clearancing needed.

Here is how it turned out.

Started out like a normal conversion.

95872

Silver Sharpie and Dremel cutting wheel.

But when looking at the macro frame I noticed two things.

1. The slide release lever has a relief cut in the macro grip.
2. The area where the manual safety would go has a faint molding line where they’re likely to replace a block to account for a whole separate section, likely with a cutout plus a relief cut.

So I used a small rotary attachment to relief cut a shelf in front of and to the rear of the cutout. Because the lever otherwise interferes with the frame front and rear.

Mike C this means that Sig probably won’t default to a larger lever like we hoped and they’ll probably just relief cut it like the slide lever.

For me the L backstrap points like what I’m used to and also helps with the ergos.

I’m hoping they do an oversize lever so it is more prominent, but time will tell.

I felt like the accelerator support thumb area was slippery.

So I added some stippling.

95876

I feel like I want MORE backstrap hump and more distance.

Considering building up the grip hump a little more and stippling.

With which insert? What size gloves do you wear?

With the L insert and I have medium hands. I usually use an M Glock backstrap.

I was a little concerned going into this as the Macro grip looked more vertical to me than the other P365s and it does point more like a 1911 consequently.

Interplay between grip angle and backstrap hump matter a lot for index.

I also feel like the macro grip texture is a little smooth and after I figure out what I want to do with the grip, I’ll likely stipple it as part of the build up process.

Are you going to just add to the backstrap hump or are you going to increase LOP and change the angle?
Im interested because this is going to be my next pistol, maybe, and I wear an xl or xxl glove.
If you could post some info on what materials you use and maybe some pics that would be helpful.
Ive never attempted anything like this Ive wondered if one of these would be helpful for maintaining original contours.

Have you seen my G26-P320 hybrid?

With a stipple wand, heat gun and possible epoxy it’s easy to shape and blend layers of polymer.

I have plenty of “spare” Sig polymer (different glass content than Glock) to add on when I get a wild hair. I’ll keep layering on the backstrap but I thought about adding a little more width too.

You should buy a mini mill, seriously

I really should.

If I had a mill and learned how to weld, I think I’d be in good shape.

I may have made an erroneous assumption.

Normally with things like the Shadow Systems, the larger backstraps lead to higher index because more pushing down on the rear.

With this system it seems like the opposite due to the contour of the backstraps.

So the L backstrap points the lowest for me and the S points highest.

So I think I can make it work index wise if I use the S insert.

Good info thanks. Lokking forward to this experiment

Saw a SIG factory non comp Macro with manual safety yesterday at my LGS.

Which backstrap did you end up settling on? I am currently using large and I naturally indexed a little low with it. Never thought a out going to medium or small till your post.

Do the smaller backstraos hurt split times at all?

For me, backstraps don’t meaningfully change split times in general as the trigger reach is usually more based off the top part of the grip which is usually the same (usually just the base of the hand changes with grip modules).

I wound up doing humpectomy Glocks instead. I’d have to look to see what strap I wound up with.

It wasn’t perfect so the humpectomy suited to my grip worked better.

Was it the same safeties? Hoping they made an extended lever for the bigger gun.

Thanks doing to experiment will small and medium backstraos next range session. Super helpful

Has anyone done a one side only non-ambi safety addition?

Looked like the standard safety.

If you search the SKU 365XCA-9-BXR3-MS you'll get sites with updated pics that show the new MS version. Like here (https://palmettostatearmory.com/sig-sauer-p365-macro-9mm-3-7-17rd-black-365xca-9-bxr3-ms.html). Based on the pic, I doubt it's an extended lever. Looks like the standard-sized one on the other 365-series pistols.
