My agency is actively seeking out current serving LEOs who have vet status for Federal hiring. If this is you, keep an eye on USA Jobs around 11/7 for another announcement.

Always wanted to be a Park Ranger. Are these seasonal positions? Alas, I do not have LEO experience.

These are not seasonal positions. The future of the seasonal LE program with the NPS is tenuous at best.

Normal Fed LEO positions have mandatory retirement at age 57, so that cut off let's them make 20 years.

There are exceptions....certain agencies and/or hiring shortages. Hence the question. (I'm not looking to move on, but others might be)

I’m a LEO, but I’m a lot closer to the 57, than the 37, so I’m out.

The fact that NPS LE rangers top out at GS-9 standing in the driving rain in the twelfth hour of their shift shooting at a grizzly with a LL shotgun in hopes that it will turn away from a group of tourists who ignored the seventeen warnings to get back in their cars, while thousands of fed LEOs cruise to GS-13 and beyond (plus LEAP) with 8-5 (or is it 10-3?) office jobs is…a little strange.

I know several former NPS rangers who loved the job but couldn’t make sense of the pay vs an 1811 position.
