Is it a Hi Power? Is it a DA/SA wondernine?? YES!

95435

Long story short, these things were FN's attempt to turn the Hi Power into modern DA/SA combat pistol, back in the '80s. They competed in the XM9 trial of 1984 and... well... we all know how that turned out.

In any case...

I've put about 300 - 400 through this one and I did a pretty thorough write up/video on it: https://hipstertactical.com/blog/fn-hp-da-bda-9-review-the-mysterious-dasa-browning-hi-power

Thought some of you guys (and gals) might find it interesting--I know there are some Hi Power fans in the house. And I know Suvorov has one of these. To be clear, this thing differs significantly from an "actual" Hi Power... but... you can definitely still see the P35 lineage in the core mechanics. I actually did a fairly in-depth comparison of the internals between the HP-DA and the MKIII Hi Power, if you're into that kinda thing. I was really curious, myself--I'd known these things existed for quite a while I was thrilled to finally get my hands on one. Very interesting to see the how the design evolved from the OG SAO platform.

Just thought this was a really neat piece of wondernine history and wanted to share it. Plus, the internet just needs more HP-DA.

Also... I gave the review sort of a Halloween-esque vibe. Because... why not?

Just ordered a couple of mags off Gunbroker. https://www.gunbroker.com/item/1027487075

As mentioned - rare as hen’s teeth and claim and appear to be Belgian manufactured and as good of a price as I’ve seen since CDNN was blowing them out.

The 1994 Crime Bill survivor in me wants to buy a bunch of them, but given the pistol is a “collectible “ for me I’m only going with a basic load out.

As Matt has mentioned these will also run in the Browning BDM as well as the P-35/BHP (although with the MecGar 15s it’s kind of pointless).
