Kickstarter has cost me too much money as of late.

Have you seen the GG&G mount with Integral Flip Up Lens Covers?

If you don't want your T1 looking like an iPod cover :o

At that price, size, and weight why not just buy a 30mm Aimpoint that comes with the covers anyway?

Yea, I'd rather spend $30 per Micro and have them "look like an iPod" than spend $200 per Micro (which would also mean having to get rid of my current mounts).

That said, I think I'll wait to see the final versions rather than investing through Kickstarter. Like orionz06, I spent too much money on Kickstarter in 2012, and spending $25 instead of $30 for one of these just isn't enough to draw me in. I wish them success though; it looks like a great product.

Makes me wonder how useful Kickstarter would be to fund a project I have been dwelling on for a while now.

In my (outsider) experience, it seems that if you offer a halfway decent product, you have a great chance of getting it funded. There are plenty of crackpot projects that never get funded, of course, but even a $230 (with eventual retail of $560) tactical lamp (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/sketchydesignstudio/andromeda-tactical-lighting) can get funding on Kickstarter (which, btw, I think is neat... I just wouldn't ever pay for it)

I would just put a solid effort into your initial pitch video. If you can put together something flashy, interesting, or otherwise engaging, you'll have an obviously much better chance than if you just stare at a camera and ramble on (as some people do).
