I love my Ed brown Kobra Carry but I do not love my eyesight. Presbyopia, the need to wear reading glasses, has really limited my ability to see irons in good light, and its super fuzzy at best in waning light. I debated what to do...laser? I dont like laser grips really and dont want to always have to use a laser to shoot accurately. I went the RMR route and went with the RMRcc as it has a smaller footprint and doesnt hang over the slide.

I must say the cut is pretty deep into the slide and combined with the co-witness sights, it has been pretty easy to acquire the red dot rapidly. I had American Flag serrations cut into the rear... Anyway, I like it and it works for me. The RMRcc has the same electronics as the SRO which is an update over the type 2. I leave it on auto-adjust and have not had any issues with the dot being too bright or too dark. I went with the 6.5MOA dot for obvious reasons. Let me know if you have questions.... Btw, some will say the Trijicon is so expensive vs Holosun. I paid $409 new from Eurooptic and Im getting 100$ rebate from Trijicon, so $309 total.
I have put 200 rounds of ammunition through this gun with no failures of any sort as of yet, fed and ejected all 124 and 147 FMJ and Hollow points.
I know Red Dots on 1911 arent quite as common as striker fired pistols so I wanted to share

Welcome.

Do you wear corrective lenses all the time or just for reading? If the former, I and a few others here have had success with Varilux X lenses for glasses. These lenses have a hexagonal pattern of varying distance, mid-range, and near focus.

Thanks

I tried contacts but I can’t do it. I wear readers. My goal was a solution that wasn’t relying on lenses. I don’t want to have to look for glasses to shoot effectively

I sent it to ED Brown

Turnaround was 30 days

There are a couple different options.

The regular size RMR cut without the co-witness setup (on the slide you send) or the RMRcc with co-witness
Which requires a new slide and costs a lot more.

Oooof. I can imagine. You kept the original slide, too?

Yes I have the original Kobra carry slide with irons and snakeskin serrations so if I ever magically can see up close better or they come out with a solution that doesn’t require finding glasses or putting contacts in, I can use it.

I don’t want to practice with corrective lenses and then if I ever need to use it in a hurry, not be able to see the sights well because I don’t have my readers with me
