This one is going and there are still open seats in it. Thumb Safeties, Grip Safeties ... both are a "thing" again with the 2011s, both Staccatos and Prodigys.

This is a great course topic. I think it’s something worth being really good at if you drive a 1911, P35, M&P, or P365.

Had seven students for the class. Four 1911s from various manufacturers, one CZ, a hybrid Para lower with an older STI slide, and a Staccato P.

After going through medical & safety, we covered the pistols and the operation of their mechanical safeties, with a bit of history.

Grip, grip safety de-activation, and thumb safety manipulation were demonstrated and worked dry. The live fire started from a ready position of their choice. It was repeated coming out of the holster.

Singles and pairs were shot, and a few needed some trigger management work. Reloads and malfunction clearances were covered as well. We finished off the time working failure drills from the ready and the holster over increasing distances.
