Custom Colt - S80

Started working this gun out as a potential replacement for my CQB (well, the older 45 one pictured here). Read that as "I wanted a new gun."

So far, so good. No FTF/FTE.

Lube is Wilson Ultima Universal. I recently had a windfall of the stuff.

Some observations: 47Ds and Tripps work perfectly. Not as accurate as the CQB. Very smooth feeding. I like the 20lpi checkering very much. I think I'll swap out the VZ diamonds for aliens soon. The "two tone" Cerakote is very subtle, and nicely done. The S80 trigger is just as good as the S70. I really like the "Enhanced" ejection port.

Thanks Jason. Every indication is good so far. I like to get a couple of 2k challenges done before declaring everything OK for comp and carry.

This Cerakote doesn't seem to be wearing as well as my Wilson's. It's not bad, just not awesome.

They are running around 6 months now. FWIW, they are gaining in popularity now. I would expect them to hit the same 1yr+ lead time that is so typical now.

What made you go the S80 route and with the Colt Custom Shop as opposed to a new CQB?

I have new Wilsons coming too. And Nighthawks. And Baers. And bunch more Colts.

The only reason that CQB is being retired is because I have an emotional attachment to it. It was my first nice handgun.
