I keep threatening to get my license but I have not do it. :(

My first job out of school was installing and repairing two-way radios. Installed a couple ham radios as well but never got the license to run them.

Got my Technician many years ago when I was doing a lot of hang-gliding. We used 2m HTs with headsets in the helmets for air-to-air and air-to-ground communication.

Also remember a "going in show" and "going home show" on one of the Boston-area repeaters in the late 80s -- the same folks would check in and chat during the morning and evening commutes. It was my first experience of a virtual community.

Don't do much with it now.

My dad is an amateur radio operator, he used to have the antenna's on the roof and all. Havent been too active in years. There used to be local "field days" and had an active local club but seems that and CB's have been replaced by cell phones.

Thanks for the replies.

I'm a General Class license holder. I get more active during this time of year with severe weather season.

General Class, only on 2M & 70cm right now, hoping for an HF set soon.
