I can't reply to your thread, so here is what I would have said:
Check out Brian Enos' forum.
To be totally honest with you, I've never seen a "not totally worn out" open class gun. They tend to get shot 20-40k rounds per year and simply rebuilt year after year.
I'd suggest, since you said 38S, buy a Caspian hi cap frame and find a top end. Caspian RD mounts are plenty good.
