That is surprisingly well done. Almost makes this Gen 5 look handsome…

Going from using soldering irons to lasers = advances in 'plastic surgery'...

The stippling is cool, the undercut is hideous.

Looks like advanced barcode.

What does the advanced barcode read when you scan it ?

This reminds me of white people getting tattoos of Asian characters they can’t read / don’t understand.

Cool stipling.

But I'm guessing the owner also has this 'tricked out' with a 1.5 lb trigger.

Doesn't look as grippy as a stock texture.

Looks kind of like level 800 of Space Invaders to me...

...and this; I'm not sure that would be as grippy as the stock texture at all.

I can't imagine that it is. Form > fashion or why bother?

It automatically loads filtered photos of itself to Instagram.

Seriously, it does look interesting, but I question how well it aids grip.

My son was in the Navy and got his name tattooed on his calf. He called me while they were in Hong Kong (USS Constellation) and said a guy on the street asked him why he had 'idiot' tattooed on his leg. He said that it took him aback until the guy laughed and told him his (my son's) name.

1. good looking texture

2. it may be a bit "stickier" than factory in terms of grip purchase

3. there are far stickier textures out there that have traditionally been hand applied:

A. "Orange Peel"- Several hundred randomly applied pores
B. "Tree Bark"- heating element dragged down to create ridges
C. Many other patterns originally used by folks like Bowie, Robar and countless others
D. Boresight took it to the next level aesthetically and functionally

It does raise the possibility of “mass-produced custom” stippling/decoration. Once you invest in the laser, fixturing, and programming, you could quickly and consistently apply almost any pattern.

It’s almost the complete opposite of the current model, which to get started requires minimal equipment but a lot of operator skill and handwork.

Although I’m sure someone can come up with a CNC stippling iron if the business model justifies it….
