View Full Version : “Turknelli” Turkish Benelli M4 Clones ?

So apparently the patent on the Benelli M4’s ARGO gas system has expired resulting in Turkish Benelli M4 clones.

There are various names / importers of these and reviews online are mixed.

Anyone have any first hand experience with these ?

Any idea if they all come from the same factory ? Any advantages to one importers version vs others ?

I’ve been researching these a lot lately. The Toros T-4 seems to be the best of the breed from what I’ve read. I’m seriously thinking about getting one.

I've been wondering about these myself. Would love to have an M4 but dropping almost $2000 on a gun because I saw it in a video game 20 years ago isn't super high on my to-do list. I mean, I totally will. I just know that there are other things I should buy first. But a $600 knock-off is a lot easier to swing in every context.

Have our Shotgun Savants© TCinVA and LHS had any show up in classes yet?

Here’s a 30something page thread on them on ARF.com.

Some decent info once you weed out all the BS.

From my hunting-based IG profile. Somewhat relevant as this was a Stoeger 3000 (Benelli M2 clone), but still, you gotta figure there's some carry-over. This was a brand-new gun on its first outing. It went through 100rds of sporting clays and then failed on the second covey of quail. Not my gun, belonged to a family friend.

That's not cool. If they'd just cut the threads too deep it should have broken off. That looks like the material is too soft.

They should make a SPAS-12 clone next for the Jurassic Park fanbois. Guys like me who would shoot it once then stare at it.

So I did a thing today. Been wanting to play around with something different so I ordered one of these:

Not a 1014 clone but Turkish made.

Is this the same as the Turkchester?

Looks more like a Turkington to me. 🤣 The Turkchester is this Savage 320, I think:https://www.savagearms.com/content?p=firearms&a=product_summary&s=19496

Those Turks really get around. Winchester says the SXP is made in Turkey, and it does kind of look like the Savage. Are they the same? Quien sabe? I was thinking a 1014 clone would be cool, even if sixty percent of the time, it worked all the time. Now I'm getting nostalgic for the not so long ago days when shotguns were made by whoever stamped their name on them.

Off to the C&R pages of GB...

So do these ship with the pistol grip stock or the non-pg stock? All the T4s I saw for sale during a quick search were non-pg. Probably not a deal breaker if they don’t but not really interested in paying a steep premium for a pg either.

I really need to make a backup “good AR” my next purchase but one of these or a Stoeger M3KFS is really calling to me.

Go to gunbroker. Search manufacturers. Select Four Peaks and/or SDS. You’ll find a bunch of 1014 clone PG options. I just did a quick search and saw a bunch from those two manufacturers.

A guy I know’s Turknelli M4 clone destructed after about 600 rounds. I forget the specific issue, but I believe it was something out of spec with the bolt causing receiver/rail damage. It’s a shame — a decent clone would satisfy my wants-a-M1014-but-doesn’t-wanna-pay-$2500 itch.

He also had to modify the receiver extension to fit a Mesa stock, FWIW.

Looks like another cheap way to spend a whole lot of money.

Not sure what the fascination is with cheap guns..... Especially on a forum like this.

Obviously if they've been vetted it's a different story.

Don't get me wrong to each his own.

For $600 you could buy a very high quality handgun

For $1200 you could buy a 1301. That has a track record and resale value.

Who makes spare parts and what do they cost? Where do you send it to have it fixed?

Good luck!

I'm reminded of something I read in a British mag devoted to classic cars, about the people who buy the less desirable products of exotic car manufactures because they've 'cheap'.
And then found out that the 'inexpensive' Mondial still needed Ferrari part$ and $erviceing.

Cheap knockoffs of good guns are even worse, because first you spend the money to get the cheap one, then you spend a ton of money to try to get the dang thing to work, then you eventually sell the cheap one at a loss and buy the real one.
