So my last topic about Tampa is invalid because that job got filled immediately. Next up for career options would be working at Auburn.

Anything about the school, area, shooting (I actually prefer rifle but pistol is ok to…), state in general, housing market, etc is appreciated.

For context, I’m 30 and married with a three year old. Would likely be there 2-3 years. Lived in FL, VA, CA, HI, and CO. Closest I’ve spent time to Alabama was the benning school for boys years ago.

Other options are VA Tech, Bragg, back to Hawaii, and some others that I’m hoping to not have to research too much.

East Alabama Gun Club is the shooting range you seek, I have shot matches there. It has hosted our state USPSA match several times.

In terms of long range rifle, Auburn is about an hour and 45 from the CMP Marksmanship park https://thecmp.org/ranges/talladega-marksmanship-park/

Another very decent range where I have shot matches for decades, home of one of our state's annual GSSF matches, good USPSA, IDPA clubs, is a little further out. https://www.centralalabamagunclub.com/uspsa

The Auburn Opelika area has been booming for a couple of decades, but it is not going to give you that major city metro area feeling. I don't know about schools, property values etc. The growth of the automotive supply chain suppliers ( for Hyundai, Honda, Mercedes, KIA) has been the major industrial influence and the University has also grown and dominates the local economy.

The state is pretty red of course, shall issue CCW, NFA friendly. Heck we just legalized night hunting for coyotes and feral pigs.
