Week 39: Defoor Test #1
results may be posted until 11:59pm EDT on Monday 13-August-2012.
Range: 25 & 7 yds
Target: IPSC target with NRA B8 repair target (link to NRA B8 repair target: http://pistol-forum.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=57&d=1306683559)
http://pistol-forum.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=946&stc=1&d=1344264373
Start position: concealed
Rounds fired: 15 shots
Here is a video with Kyle Defoor demonstrating the drill: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJtczDAUul0.
Drill is intended to be run COLD.
To begin the drill, start at the target facing up range. On the buzzer, run back to the 25 yd line, turn, draw, and fire 6 shots into the NRA B8 bullseye repair target positioned at the bottom of an IPSC target A-zone—shots must be done within 30 seconds and at least 50 points are required to pass. Record the time and the number of hits obtained. (Note: If and only if you are unable to run on your range--start at the 25 yd line, at the buzzer draw and perform the drill as above without running, but the par time is reduced to 17 sec.)
Move to the 7 yd line for the next 3 segments of the drill:
1. On the buzzer draw and fire one shot into the reduced IPSC A-zone above the NRA bull within 2 sec--if you miss or are over time, you fail.
2. On the buzzer draw and fire a 6 shot Bill Drill into the reduced A-zone above the NRA bull; to pass all hits must be made in 4.5 sec or less with no misses.
3. On the buzzer draw and fire 2 shots within 3.5 sec into the IPSC target head A-zone or “credit card”; it is a failure if you exceed the time limit or miss.
Please report the following when responding to this thread:
Start position (pistol, holster type, concealment)
For each segment of the test, report the time to complete and score/number of hits.
Training with firearms is an inherently dangerous activity. Be sure to follow all safety protocols when using firearms or practicing these drills. These drills are provided for information purposes only. Use at your own risk.
