Hello I would just like to give a sincere thanks to Todd G and all who were involved in this process. I think I speak for many people when I say that I am grateful for the pistol training website and now the forums. I have gained a vast amount of knowledge and am appreciative that all this info is put out there for people to obtain. I also appreciate the professionalism that I have seen and it is a breath of fresh air to be a part of a community were people act like adults and have some integrity.

Thanks to Todd and all the others that have contributed to this effort.

Already posted as much in the "welcome" thread, but I'm pretty new to the site and have already found it a tremendously helpful resource. Buying a supporter subscription was a no-brainer.

I'd like to offer my somewhat belated greetings to everyone. I recognize a lot of the screen names that have popped up on our fledgling forum...and I'm gratified to see it. The names I recognize are the sort of people who bring a great deal of value with them as contributors to a website and as people generally. They're the kind of people who make discussion forums beneficial. I've learned a great deal from many of you, even if it was only how to look at something through someone else's eyes.

You guys are the reason why this forum exists. Existing as a high quality resource to you is our mission on this forum, our raison d'etre.

We'll do our best to be worthy of the trust you've placed in us by choosing to participate here.

Please don't hesitate to contact me or any other member of staff if you ever have questions or concerns. We'll do our best to listen!

Howdy from the front range!

I learned about pistol-training from the mp-pistol forum and now to hear that it has its own forum is cool. I learned a lot from the high round count torture tests performed by ToddG and would have to say my biggest reason for being on this forum is to learn. The amount of experience and knowledge has already impressed me and I hope I can, at some point, add to it.

Any pistol trainings coming to Colorado any time soon? Sign me up when it does!

...and as has been said above, thanks to Todd and the guys in the back room for the site.

A little background, so y'all have a clue where I'm coming from - grew up in the country, so have been around/used firearms since I was a kid. Smallbore 3 position in school (ROTC rifle team). Did a hitch in the military, but not a combat arms slot. Have usually had some sort of house/range gun but never taken any classes.

I've introduced the girlfriend to shooting, and we both took the Texas CHL class last fall. I still browse several of the 'gunny' sites and blogs, and a link from Tam eventually led me to pistol-training.com via the infamous "1911 cult" blog post.

I've read through most of the articles and drills on the site, and it's given me some new things to try with my own shooting and hopefully introduce the g/f to so she can improve as well.

Being a 'house/plinking' guy up to now, I've never worried much about holsters - pretty much anything that would hold the pistol while I was at the range was good, and an LCP or snubby could just be dropped in a pocket when taking the dog out to do her business.

Now that I've taken the CHL class, I'm looking a lot more closely at holster/concealment options and training. Would love to take some classes, but pretty doubtful my vacation schedule will allow much opportunity (only home for a couple weeks, twice a year).

missed this thread somehow, the perils of doing most of my internet on a Blackberry these days.
love pistol-training.com and hope this forum is as successful. There are a lot of forums out there and while they typically start off with a distinct purpose, they lose that focus after while. I'm hoping that just by name alone this forum sticks around for a long time and maintains it's dedication to pistols.

Hey all... new here from NC. I have been a CCW holder since last september and a firearm enthusiast all my life. Really enjoyed reading all of Todd's torture tests, especially the P30. I was hoping to get a P30 or HK of some sort last fall, but unfortunately I had to share my gun budget with my wife. So I ended up with a XDm 3.8 compact in .40 and she in a MR-9 (Magnum research P99). Overall really enjoy the information and look forward to learning as much as possible from the forum and site.

Hello all,

New guy here - call me Jay. I'm just a regular guy in the San Francisco Bay Area of California.

I have no "defensive/tactical training" except a few months of BJJ back in 2006. Been shooting since I was 13 (started out smallbore rifle position shooting). Got more into the defensive side of life when I got jumped by 2 guys while riding a bicycle back from work. The (poor) application of my (sport) jiu jitsu education didn't help get me out of that situation.

I'm here mostly to lurk, as I don't have anything useful to contribute in comparison to the posters on here. Looking forward to learning and implementing.

Take care,
Jay

Hello everyone,

I finally caved to my brother Gun Mutt's insistence and joined today. Ive gone by this handle in a few interweb forums, been on a long hiatus with kds, work, elitist fudd-like behavior at other bangstick forums, etc.

I like guns and sharp things. I believe in training, and try to have a "constant student"mentality. Im here to learn and share what limited knowledge i have. I will try my bestest to not be a jerk, even when some of you know you deserve it.

Cheers all!

This guy really does believe in hard work and training. The first time I met him at a FOF class he had to excuse himself briefly to go throw up.

I had a fever, it wasnt brown bottle flu, i swear! This was way before the covid craziness, no one got vilified for toughing out some sniffles.

I paid good money for that class and had to drive a couple hours to get there, wasnt going to miss it. And that was a hell of a class too, id almost forgotten about yakking in the parking lot. Thanks for the reminder hahaha

If you're that easily butthurt about removal of your posts in violation of the rules and a polite PM about the rules, then yes, you probably are not among like minded individuals. Up to you at this point if you stay or not.

If you just absolutely have to have politics with your PF, as I mentioned that's an option for site supporters. Free members are restricted, just as they are from posting in the classifieds.

Hello everyone!

I would like to introduce myself and say thanks for the opportunity to be a member of this forum.

My name is Cory Fluck. I am a current member of M4carbine.net and the 1911forum so some members may already know me.

Just a little about myself...

I’ve been involved in Law Enforcement since 1996 and a certified Pennsylvania Police Officer since 1999. I’m currently a full time police Officer in Upper Nazareth Township in Northampton County, PA. I am the department’s firearms instructor and purchaser.

I have been a certified NRA firearms instructor since 2001 and am certified in Handgun, Shotgun, Patrol Rifle and Tactical Shooting. I was employed part time by Precision Firearms in West Virginia for 12 years as an AR-15 builder. I am currently an assistant firearms instructor for Sights and Trigger (sights and trigger.com).

First and foremost, I am here to learn. Firearms training is ever evolving and I love to stay as current as possible with training and drills. I am more of a browser than a poster so you may not hear from me often but I will be watching and hopefully learning.

Greeting everyone,

Discovered this forum thru another member, what great boards with a wealth of knowledge! I hope I can contribute is some small way.
I'm recently retired and an avid handgun enthusiast, favorites being S&W 3rd gen handguns.

Early career choices included some private security work and several years as an EMT, so I particularly enjoy the LEO board threads.
I admire, respect and support all that the LEO community does, I know its never been easy being an LEO, especially in this day and time, but you have my support and thanks for all that you do!

I'm now addicted to the UOF video threads. While knowing that UOF is always an unfortunate last resort circumstance, is it wrong that I always smile at a good dog bite video.

It is different, and part of that is because folks like that are removed from the forum, especially in technical areas of the forum. General Discussion has a bit more leeway, and politics is reserved to the site-supporter-only area.

Actually looked at a listing through a search engine, and found a listing of an item I've been searching. I needed to register to send a message to the seller.

Seems this is as fruitless as hoping CA gun laws to be open as the free states.

Also seems this forum is very different from another firearm forum I am active on.

Welp, thanks anyhow. Guess back to searching.

Hello, I’m new here.

I got drawn to P-F last summer when I was researching the Beretta LTT Elite. Of all the online forums out there I found the most information about that gun on this forum. I believe I read every post on the LTT Elite going back to 2016, so thanks for that as it helped me make the decision to get one.

Speaking of the LTT Elite, I started out with the fullsize model but ended up sending it back to LTT for RDO conversion. For the last few years I’ve been converting my comp and carry guns over to RDS since my close vision is showing my age (along with the readers I have to wear).

I figured since I’ve been checking P-F at least once a day to see what discussions are taking place I might as well become a member. Thanks for having me, hoping I can contribute in some small way.

Cheers

Hi everyone,

I am new here. I came here looking for pistol advice. I’m thinking of a staccato with a co-witness. Most of my pistol stuff is Glock Springfield and some Ruger stuff. I have a number if 22 pistols too. Most of my firearm stuff has been AR and bolt gun but I am looking to step up my pistol game.

I’m from western PA and shoot regularly here at the house and longer range at my sportsman’s club I belong too. Other than that I am your basic boring dad doing boring dad stuff. I have two younger boys that will hopefully pick up my love of firearms in a few years.

I did break a rule by commenting on something else for a project I have never been able to finish before introducing myself so I apologize for that!

I look forward to getting to know members and hopefully become more knowledgeable. If anyone needs AR platform advice I can help out there. Feel free to message me!

Just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in. I Like pew pews I got a few decent pieces on a poverty budget. Recently got rid of some stuff I don’t shoot anymore and dialed it into having guns I’m gonna use and shoot since I want to really start shooting more than I have in the past. Licensed YouTube armorer, dabble in reloading, and I’m possibly a fudd or boomer cause I like my guns like I like my Thor….. with a hammer. Although I have a 365 but I’m really just trying to stay popular and relevant like divorced dad who wears coolwater and keeps a lucky Jimmy hat in the ashtray of his C5 vette. I look forward to chatting it up around here. Any questions just ask. Btw so y’all don’t have to ask I’m circumsized. Nice to meet y’all stoked to be here.

Welcome to Pistol-Forum, WilsonCQB1911. Don't be a lurker anymore... :D

I'm a long time lurker but registered just to post for this.

Mas Ayoob appears to be a fan of this loading. In his recent articles and gun tests he will allude to carrying this load. In previous articles he has mentioned that it has a good reputation on the street. My understanding is that it does not do well in geo tests however.

I laid in a decent stash of this years ago and it's my go to in my fullsize 9mm 1911. The steel frame can handle it just fine. In that gun the recoil difference is not noticeable nor is an increase in blast, probably because it's a longer barrel at 5".

I would load it and carry it with confidence. Once you use it all up years later (I may never in my lifetime) switch to whatever is the latest. However I wouldn't spend any time worrying about it.

I have the CGW Omega trigger on my P07; like Clusterfrack and others, I run it without the over travel screw. I greatly prefer the converted CZ85 profile trigger over any other. The break is in a much better spot for me. Also, I have smoother trigger control in DA with this. Now here’s the punchline; my P07 is an old duty model (gen1). I had tried both the original and the Gen2 triggers. The Gen2 trigger didn’t work (broke too far to the rear, rested too far forward) due to subtle differences between the Duty models and their successors. The original trigger was ok, but the Omega trigger was substantially better; as in ‘I would have paid more’ better.
For anyone with a Duty model, these are some changes that have kept (or restored) reliability and viability: Gen2 trigger bar, Gen 2 extractor (much better than the original Duty extractor), CGW extended mag release (allows mags to fall free despite the frame flex problem on Duty models), CGW roll pin, CGW sear pin, Gen2 sear, CGW disconnector, CGW Hammer, CGW lifter arm, cut stair no-slip tape for the grips. Clusterfrack’s tip about putting a little grease in the sear spring hole is a good one.

I've hesitated to do the introduction. It has been my experience that stating my background rarely nets me a positive result in dealing with the general public. It's a mixture of people thinking I'm crazy or just being disgusted with me for my former profession.

I am a former CIA Operations Officer. When I left I went through the process of being able to say that, so I'm not breaking any rules or talking out of school. What does that have to do with firearms and tactics? Only a little. It's not a combat organization. If you are getting into fights for your life you're doing something very wrong. We do get some cool training though that many could only dream of.

I had a lot of good experiences. Rescued a dog from the middle east that traveled with me everywhere and is still kicking. I don't miss it but it has it's moments.

I have been a firearms enthusiast for decades and the gun community is my tribe.

Been lurking for a few years and finally decided to join. The demeanor of the members here, as well as the helpful, good discussions with actual data are what drew me to this place.

I'm a former Army Infantryman turned LEO.

I'm not special or an expert by any means. I'm just here to learn about things I don't know and soak up the data-backed knowledge that is prevalent here.

Howdy from Indiana!

I joined recently, but have not posted any message yet. A friend pointed me in this direction and I don't know why this set of forums was not on my radar years ago. Some here may know from other forums either as rhino, rhino_, or rhino465. I've seen a few names and userids that are familiar to me from the past, so I'm looking forward to re-engaging. I haven't had much of an online presence outside of the knife world for a few years, so I'm not sure how much I will contribute here, but we shall see.

Oh, I have some names for Rhino.

How about “Sugarbutt” for starters?

Gentlemen don't kiss and tell, sir.

How goes life? You missed the last ACT night shoot. I made an appearance and actually shot a few drills before I left (early). That may be the last . . .

Good day, sir! How many of us are there? I know three (not counting you) now that BarryinIN chose to expose himself (again).

I wouldn't know what gentlemen do.

I was in Hell during the last night shoot (In-laws). I hope you all had a miserable time.

Last one!!! What???

I did not fall or break any bones and no one got shot, so it's unlikely that we were as miserable as you. You probably deserved it anyway.

New guy here from SW Missouri. I just stumbled on this place. I'm a big handgun fan and have had the chance to shoot alot over the years. I'm a fan of Ruger, CZ, S&W, Walther, and most milsurps.
There seem to be alot of knowledgeable people here. If I ask any dumb questions, forgive me.

Hi all! New gun guy in north central Texas who has read this site without joining for a while and then joined without posting for a few months; finally decided to introduce myself. Looking forward to learning more from the many great discussions here!

Hopefully will be purchasing my first handgun (G19.5 MOS) here shortly once I can convince the wife I won't shoot myself with it.

I don't think I ever introduced myself when I joined, but another "adopted" Hoosier here (I'm a native Arizonan), and would enjoy a PF meet up at some point. I know INGO's put a few on and I always miss them for one reason or another, but I'd love to make it out regardless. My wife's pretty sick lately so I spend most of my time off work taking care of her, but I'd find some way to make a PF meet up for sure, merely because the knowledge here on PF is amazing. Might have to try and organize one at some point...

Dude, I love your revolver stocks!

We had a very neat demo about them with some folks at Revolver Roundup last month. I am hoping you got some additional orders, because we let a lot of people fondle and shoot my LCR, a 642 and my Taurus 856 Executive Grade.

I have been playing with a 327 Federal Magnum LCR. With your pistol stocks, it makes 32 H&R Magnum's very controllable in that pistol. And a 32 S&W Long wadcutter feels like a 22 plinker. :)

Keep up the great work!

Just discovered this forum, and as a long time pistol guy, I had to check in and catch up on others who have the same interest...And as my SN sounds, you guessed it, that is my EDC and one of my favorites among several higher ends...

Since this is close to the Christmas season, let me wish everyone who reads this a very Merry Christmas to all. And happy shooting....

Long time browser of the site, going on four years now. I've learned a ton by being a passive participant so I figure the least I can do is join up and throw LL a few bucks to keep the lights on. Recently took a class where I met WobblyPossum and SeriousStudent and had a blast training with them. Looking forward to continuing to learn from the SMEs here and hopefully add a little to the discussions where I can.

Hey all,

I'm a former LEO that's now a city building inspector. I joined this forum at the urging of a few P&S members. I already enjoy the civilized discourse and generally better input by members that I've seen here compared to other forums/pages.

New member from Colorado... for now

Happy to be here and looking forward to reading up on the different topics. Lately I've slowed down to using my revolvers whether double/single or single action (which REALLY makes me take my time).

I've been reloading for quite awhile and am finally breaking into my older stash of components :)

I’ve been lurking long enough I thought I’d better make it official and join up. I have a P-07 and I’ve been hanging out a lot reading the “P-07 Mind Blown” thread. Started getting red dot fever. Might be dangerous.
Thanks to everybody, and their input and advice they share, on all topics.

I’ve been lurking for long enough I figured I should make it legal. Got here looking for info on the P07 and got hooked. Might try getting a slide milled and an EPS.
Thanks for all the discussion topics y’all.
