Over on BE Forums they are discussing the passing of Chip McCormick. I haven't been able to find any details, but apparently he passed in his sleep after experiencing heart attack symptoms earlier in the evening. According to one post, he was 63 years old.

We are diminished.

I've seen his name for so long, I'd have thought he was older.

It's one thing to be known, and it's another to be respected. I don't know anyone who didn't respect what he's done.

Rest In Peace, Chip.

I saw him in the early days of USIPSC/USPSA and the Steel Challenge in California. A fierce competitor, he was a gentleman on the range and off. He did work with Devel, and later had his own company that supplied magazines of that design and other items for racing 1911s.

As written previously, we are diminished...

My heart is deeply saddened at hearing the news of his passing, and am sorry that Kim lost a great man. He was a good guy, did a ton for the the industry, and will be missed.

He was involved in so many things...1911 components, the development of the 2011 and early days of Kimber, and quality magazines.

May he rest in peace.
