Gone too soon at 66.

I spent many hours in front of the screen watching his classic battles back in the day.

It was a sweet time to be a devotee of the sweet science.

Likely one of the most talented boxers to have ever fought. His ability to go southy and back at will on some of the greatest has not been seen since.

He was also my first introduction to how Vegas rigged fights and ultimately killed boxing. (In an effort to keep it popular with casual fans)

In my view clearly the best fighter (sorry...boxer) of the modern era.

Watching a fight on closed circuit at the old Spectrum in Philadelphia was about as good as being at the actual fight. Saw some of the great Hagler fights there.

This is very sad. Like Ali-Frazier I and III, almost every moment of Hagler-Hearns inevitably burned itself into your memory and even years later you get chills when you watch these fights.

RIP Marvelous.

We used to drive to Radio City Music Hall in Manhattan for same. Then off to our local watering hole afterward for breakdown of the fights and commentary.

Damn, gone too soon. A bit before my time but I've watched a couple of his fights and enjoyed them.

I was a fan. He could go toe to toe with the best. He held the title for a long time.

RIP

This hits home.

I was a fan of his and I got to know him a little bit as he was a customer of a sporting goods store that I worked at one summer.

RIP Champion ( and Leonard didn’t win that fight )
