I have been trying to find a PM-9 at any gun shop within 100 miles of me. Earlier during Covid I called the factory in NY and they were shut down. I called today and talked with a person who said they are making Dan Wesson pistols now and said they pretty much never stopped making CZs. In case anyone out there was wondering.

Wonderful news! I just replied to a long dead thread with a question on dan wesson guns, maybe it’s a sign...

I just looked at your post on 9mm reliability. I too want a 1911 pistol and want a 9mm as a counterpart to my Beretta 92A1. I decided a Dan Wesson seems like a good way to go. The Specialist is very appealing with the night sights and magwell. I won’t buy one without being able to see it, hold it. But I can’t seem to find one. Hopefully things might get better. Once Biden/Harris start trying to confiscate my Beretta 17 round magazines, at least I can hope the 10 round and less magazines will be left alone. I think this new administration will increase demand for non-high capacity (>10 round) magazines.

Yeah, NY had extensive shutdowns.

But CZs are made either in Czechia or Kansas (soon to be Arkansas) so were not affected.

In my experience, DW 1911s seem to have a pretty tight slide to frame fit so they benefit from some break in time and probably don't like to be run dry. FWIW, I have several 1911 pistols in 9mm including a few DW, and they all run fine. Quality magazines are worthwhile. The DW mags run well. 1911 pistols are range guns for me but I would be willing to carry my ECO or Valor if I were able to do do.

It would sure be nice if they could get some DW-Xs into circulation.

That neck of the woods is where I grew up and lived until about 5 years ago. We drove about an hour to buy groceries in Norwich where Dan Wesson is based. A lot of my Uncles, Aunts, Cousins, and long time family friends are still up there. The shutdowns have been absolutely crippling to many. Long time family businesses in Norwich have gone under. One of which, Mclaughlin's department store has been around for 45 years. They're closing early 2021. A ton of people are struggling to make it by. To be honest, that area has been economically screwed for a long time. There just aren't a ton of decent jobs. The guns they make are to expensive for 90% of the people that wander into Mayhood's, the local brick and mortar gun store. Then the shut downs started, and the restrictions. Essential workers only were able to go to work. Couple that up with some family telling me that people were being ticketed for being in public without a mask... People are barely paycheck to paycheck in most of the Otsego/Chenango area. NYSP is out to ticket you on any road for any reason. That's really how it feels up there.

The point I'm making is that I can't honestly picture Dan Wesson being in Norwich long term. It wouldn't be shocked to see them move somewhere else eventually. I hope I'm wrong, because I like seeing Norwich on the side of my Valor. But NYS has managed to make things incredibly hard for pretty much every gun manufacturer in their state. Couple that up with shut downs, and a crummy place to live... I don't picture them pulling national level talented employees to live in the area.

Edit: I'd also love to see some DWX's in circulation. They look awesome.

DW lost some good people during the shutdown.

I don’t understand the thinking behind states like NY and California making things difficult to do business in? The only explanation is the leaders don’t understand why having economic activity is good. California is running everyone out and implementing a wealth tax to make up for tax revenue shortfalls. Their wealth tax will apply if you leave the state, for up to 10 years. I don’t think practices like that will end well or have their desired affect. Time will tell.

Cuomo. Should have been more specific.

I'd rather Cuomo had COVID, and stomach cancer.
