Everyone ready?

Yes, I know it’s a laughable storm compared to say Wyoming, but anyway...

Unpossible!

Don’t you know that snowfalls are now just a thing of the past (https://wattsupwiththat.com/2015/11/12/one-of-the-longest-running-climate-prediction-blunders-has-disappeared-from-the-internet/)?

It is unusual. There's some additional complication in the fact that many of our streets are not as wide as newer cities and much of that width is taken up by quasi-permanent structures erected by the restaurants to have outdoor dining. The Guv shut down indoor dining again this past Monday. There is concern about where plowed snow will go.

No change for me. Maybe a quiet day or two at my business, I break out my old man waterproof Rockports instead of fashionable boots or sneakers.

If you go out during the storm please wear your COVID mask. Those pesky little viruses can jump from snowflake to snowflake. Yes I'm talking about ice crystals not pajama boys.

I’m a little worried. I think the snow will be cleared in time for my drive home Saturday, but Michelle has to take one of the kids up to Lebanon, NH tomorrow (Thursday) morning for an early appointment with a medical specialist that can’t be missed. He risked flying home from school in Seattle to go to this appointment which is for management of what is literally a life or death condition. I’m concerned that it will be rough driving, even if it’s all Interstate. I guess we’ll see how NHDOT handles snow.

They do a great job, but I-89 is pretty remote and doesn’t get a lot of traffic. I recommend snow tires and leaving early!

Winter starts in five days. Anyone in the Northern U.S. making a shocked face should move to Florida. Skis should already have been waxed, Arctic Cat track remounted and tensioned, boots greased, Yaktrax (https://amzn.to/2K4ln4u) hung by the door, and N-frame holstered for yeti.

one thing I've noticed about this whole debacle: some who I would call "friend" and some that have called me "family", and claimed they would help (hint: lawyers), haven't done SHIT.

Near BWI, summer tires left a mustang stuck on something I don't recognize as a hill and an M3 in a curb hard. 20 minutes south, roads are wet. Sleeting now and expecting a freeze and late start to the morning. We were code blue this morning for, I guess, excessive windshield frost.

You folks get paid back in the summer. I much prefer warm, but, will refrain from committing to AZ summer until I experience it for more than a few days in a row. Hard to imagine living year round in a cold weather state. Summer in Idaho, winter in Arizona seems like a good compromise.

Storms locally here associated with all this are passing through Tampa en route to Lakeland. We lost power in our Apt 20 mins ago. Just got an emergency notice on the crank up radio that there’s a Tornado on the ground in my county.

Which kinda sucks but at 68F outside, I’m counting my blessings.

Y’all stay warm.

Roy that’s funny because I just said that to a friend back east. We definitely pay for our mild winters. We had a handler come down from Idaho for a dog school in the summer. He hated it.

No joke, this morning on my drive to work it was 38! The snowflake indicator on my dash next to the temperature gauge lit up to make sure I was aware that it was cold. I considered calling off work, but then I wouldn't have had anything to do to kill time until my range time after work.

Yeah, this place sucks in the summer. The Arizona apologists will try to convince you that it's only three months, but realistically it's more like 5+...

I literally and heartily laughed out loud at this. Seriously, it made my day. I should also also point out that I laughed out loud while grilling brats out on the back patio in short sleeves...

I like the cut of your jib. Next time I'm in Easton I'll buy you a beer (or, if my latest travels to Easton are any indication, a hipster cocktail of your choosing). In the meantime, stay warm and safe, and I'll pass along your sentiments to my cousin in the morning.

It depends on how early triple digits set in huh. But I’d say 5-6 months of heat more than 3.

Some kid went out hiking last night and decided to "take a shortcut" and climb the mountain face which resulted in a "600' vertical rope rescue" in this crap. They found him and every body got home safe after a 7 hour rescue. Huge props to our local volunteer fire and rescue guys for putting their life out there to save another idiot.

First thing this morning, dog jumped off the porch and disappeared in a wonderful poof followed by confused barking and also had to be rescued.

We did a ton of prep on the farm last night, however we were expecting half this much snow (still snowing and at 32"), hopefully the smaller farm animals were smart enough to stay in their shelters and we can get to them before to long.

The power line is down along my street, it looks they’re putting in a new one and a new pole.

We’ve got the Weber and the trusty Jetboil (https://amzn.to/2LNbfgX) on cooking duty. I haven’t touched that Jetboil in over a year, it fired right up.

They ran into that on the way up - what would normally be a 1:30 drive took 5:00. But the appointment is done and they are on the way back, making considerably better time now - almost a steady 40. It wasn’t something that could be rescheduled without severe impact, either on health or school.
