Working to assemble a photo studio area in my shop. First subjects were
my very first revolver (my second handgun) and my latest the Smith 1917 as
seen in another thread.

"My First" looks as it did when I got it 40 plus years ago. My Dad decided it was
time for me to have a revolver. Range work ensued and while our Smith Heavy Barrel
Mdl.10 was in the running, I could shoot better with the "pre-model" N-frame 44spl!

I was 14, and that gun was my tool! I shot the hell out of it, I don't know how many 246gr.
Remingtons I wheeled through it, but I loved it! As a lefty (and on a real family budget) my
Dad set me up with a right handed Bucheimer? cross draw holster that I wore on my left
hip (as most of you would). As a left handed Lad, I would rotate my hand clockwise to
get a grip, draw straight up and rotate the gun toward the target.

So long as we had ammo...and I was HITTING I could shoot till we ran out!
Dad dug Cooper, but he was not a 1911 fan, but Revolvers he loved and he could shoot!

We'd shoot "combat courses" running along SoCal desert gully washes.
We'd shoot cans, especially on the move. (up cleaning up was part of the gig)
We'd shoot rocks on the hills out past 400 yards. (oh how I wish I had those young eyes again).

Loved it all. And that 44.

Five-screw N-frames are a delight. Five-screw 44 Specials are a treasure.
