The SKU is an LE SKU that's sort of Gen1.5. Gen2 latch, but no choke threading.

How important do you think having the threaded choke is?

You won’t be upset to know I really prefer the Aridus Haught mod, as it makes it easier to be target focused without the obstruction of the rear aperture sight.

It's funny, Dad's been using those cut-off ghost rings for years, but I've always preferred a standard ghost ring... right up until I used one on a CROM and it kept getting in the way of the dot.

Well bummer. This is the only gun that’s really on my want to buy list but I’m not willing to pay the $1800-2000 that people are asking on GB. Maybe I’ll catch the next batch.

Thanks for the heads up even if I saw it too late

Late last week I did a search of the 1301T and as a result, I put myself on the "email notification/waiting list" with a handful of retailers. Saturday morning I received notification from Grab A Gun that the FDE version of the gun was in stock. Price was listed as a bit below MSRP and the model number denotes it to be the latest generation version. Timing is everything- should be in hand at my LGS Friday.
BTW, this morning I received another email, this from Arms Unlimited. The black version was in stock. They were gone in a flash!

I just checked Grab A Gun moments ago- FDE version currently in stock! https://grabagun.com/firearms/shotguns/semi-automatic-shotguns/beretta-107.html

I've always just bought straight from Aridus, but I suppose in a pinch if you're mechanically inclined you can just cut a regular aperture down.

My 1301 arrived. Looks just like a Gen 2, but with no adjustable choke. I was relieved to see the front sight was canted, indicating consistency. :p

Installed a CROM and T1, and just need to zero it with Brenneke slugs.

I really wish that black gen 2 with chokes would start showing up for sale.

I want one, but have trouble finding what street price on a standard (non LTT) even is. I can't justify the peice when I don't know the cost AND can't find them. Or the up purchase cost to LTT. And the UPC listed for the new gen 2 black guns (from the big 1301 thread) really isnt listed anywhere.

I think I may do the same when the funding deities smile upon me. (Assuming they are still legal for civvies to own by then)

It seems to me that Mr Langdon & team will serve as a secondary, perhaps stricter QA step for those firearms they resell.

It's been several months since I last ran the numbers, but when they were initially released the LTT guns came out to about $15 more than buying the base gun and all the components separately. When you factor in shipping costs for all the various pieces, the LTT gun came out significantly ahead, price-wise.

UPS ground was on the long side of the quoted wait time and AU took a bit of time to ship, but after 13 days I finally have my shotgun. I removed the magazine spring retainer so the gun comfortably holds five shells (was hit or miss with different brands), installed the CROM and an Aimpoint, and threw some Velcro on the receiver. I hope to be able to take it to the range Friday.

I zeroed the Aimpoint and the Aridus ghost ring today. The gun fed 40 rounds of Federal 8 pellet low recoil Flitecontrol, 25 rounds of Speer Lawman 8 pellet low recoil (has the Flitecontrol wad), 5 rounds of Remington managed recoil 8 pellet, 5 rounds of Remington managed recoil 1oz slugs, 5 rounds of Federal Truball deep penetrator slugs, and 25 rounds of Federal #6 target loads. No malfunctions whatsoever, and Flitecontrol stays within an 8" circle at 25 yards. Slugs appear to be POA/POI at 25 yards (sufficient to hit a 3"x3" box). I worked reloads, presentations from the ready, multi-shot engagements, and multi-target engagements. I'm very impressed with this shotgun.

Just handled a new OD Green 1301T at Joe's Sporting Goods in St Paul. $1249, if I recall correctly.

http://www.joessportinggoods.com/

Not sure if it's the most current version with choke tubes; I was so surprised to see it that I forgot to check!

I did not notice any cant to the front sight base, however.

Holy crap, what a well balanced, light, purposeful and ergonomically pleasing shotgun.
I think I get it now.

I gotta watch the recoil on longarms now (doc's orders). Still...

Any insight as to the recoil impulse compared to, say, an 18" 870 Police or Express synthetic?

Less recoil than an 870 or Benelli M1/2, but still too much for lots of shooting if you are worried about your retinas. The good thing is they are like a large AR, so once you get them zeroed you can shoot them sparingly and be pretty proficient, unlike a pump.

Never tried it myself.

Hmmm... not sure if it would work out, then.

It is a dilemma I don't think I am going to solve, as the 20 gauge guns are sometimes so much lighter in weight than a 12 that the recoil is almost as noticeable. I was sort of hoping to not end up relying on a heavy, long-barrelled side-by-side, firing really light loads (and calling everyone else "sonny").

Now might be the time to just haul all the scattergun stuff to the LGS and put it on consignment.

Anyone found black gen2 with chokes in stock?

I found these: https://www.sportsmans.com/shooting-gear-gun-supplies/shotguns/beretta-1301-tactical-semi-auto-shotgun/p/p48718

While the black gun's part number looks correct, it said fixed choke. So I wasn't sure if it was a gen 1.5 gun.

Also looks like shipping to an FFL might now be an option? Good greif.

Yeah, that sums it up.

The fixed chokes will shoot slug. Chokes matter to me because it could wind up shwacking a thunder chicken. Otherwise I think the 1.5 would be cool.

Doesn't say what the choke is. About 15 points of constriction would be my guess but it doesn't really matter for a SD shotgun out to 20 yds anyway. Somewhere between 10 and 20 POC would be fine with me.

Modified (20 POC) used to be the standard choke before tubes became the trend. Just one more thing to ponder which confuses most people like variable power scopes and traction control. Probably why they don't tell you what it is, just know you have it. :D

Please do report out. I’ve got a pre-ban M1S90 with a pistol-grip stock and extended tube that I always thought was the top of the heap in social shotguns (except for the rifle sights, I didn’t spring for the ghost rings).

My only gripes are that the LOP is a bit too long and it kicks like a pump. But it sure is fast, clean, and fun to shoot.

Seems like the Beretta has a better LOP, tubes, and less recoil. That sound about right?

It's just the way the unit is attached to the base. Once you start tightening the screw it turns on the whole assembly. You can cancel this out by using some makeshift tool to hold it steady as you tighten it.

Use a 5.5mm wrench.

While I find it annoying, I dont lose sleep over it.

Since I plop a dot on my 1301 shotguns, I would call it amusing not annoying. As Beretta is reportedly the oldest firearm manufacturer in the world, I would have guessed they understood the makeshift tool trick, and tighty righty.
