Nah, "gone wrong" would mean the perp was the fastest gun in Las Vegas, and there were four dead cops.

That is neither when you do that, nor how you do that.

Looks like a Suicide by Cop to me.

I think somebody decided they weren't going back to prison, no matter what.

Thankfully, for the Vegas officers, that suspect was no Jim Zubiena.

I'm surprised there wasn't a riot.

The organizers of such events are still writing missing ballots

Aside from the suspects stupidity, one thing really stood out. The buzz cut, plaid shirt, plate carrier dude looked like he hit a patch of ice when the gun came out while the other officers were extremely cool, calm, and collected.

The buzz cut, plaid shirt, plate carrier dude looked like he hit a patch of ice when the gun came out while the other officers were extremely cool, calm, and collected.I saw that at first as well, but upon reconsidering it, I believe it was a combination of surprise that the suspect resisted in the face of overwhelming odds, and the plexiglass covid barrier in the officer's way... I think he was caught off guard and then tried to get low enough to fire below the barrier rather than through it.

Main take aways for me are the usual:

When you're facing down a 12-gauge from close range - it's probably best to comply.

When it comes to shooting people at close range - 12-gauge reigns supreme.

I only clicked on this thread because I thought it was about the election result...

Guess imma need to get one of those 12 ga things one of these days.

On topic, I think Mr. Parker chose...unwisely.

To the benefit of the rest of us.

Looking again at the video, the officers were setup for a perfect L-ambush. I doubt it was designed that way, but it worked out for them.

Buckshot works.

Amen to that.

(Deleted for pointless thread drift)

What in hell was the deceased guy thinking? I know his back was turned part of the time, but he *had* to have gotten a glimpse of The Short Tube Of Eternity pointed at him.

(Perhaps we ought to start referring to 12 gauge shotguns as The Tube Of Woe.)

They are good things to have around.

I hear tell the Beretta 1301T is the one to have these days. I'm still running a pump action or four...

Not only does the 12ga give a good muzzle blast photo, but ... you can watch the plastic barrier shatter.

Just another example of the need for training that removes novelty - give people permission to shoot through things that can be penetrated.

Small world. I sometimes shoot with Jim in Las Vegas IDPA matches. Still a great shooter, even though quite a bit older. I never knew his "history" before, although through conversation with him it is easy to see he sure knows his stuff.
