Election night - what are you drinking?

Why so serious? How about a little light-hearted discussion on an otherwise contentious day.

So far I'm 1 drink in. Espolon Reposado, neat. It's delicious and leaves me feeling less shitty than scotch or bourbon. I think I'll start and finish with tequila. Risky strategy, but it could pay off.

Next up? Hard kombucha. This is a recent revelation to me, but I love the stuff. Like beer without the drawbacks. I have a ginger-lemon kombucha that has the bitterness of a good IPA(at 6.5%) without being sweet. I'll have that with dinner (smoked pork chops, sweet potatoes, and broccoli).

I have both Japanese and Taiwanese scotch to choose from after dinner. Not sure which to go with. The Taiwanese stuff is Kavalan. I had a great bottle of it last time I was there, but the bottle I brought home was a 1L airport special that has never been all that satisfying. We'll see how things go.

Started with a Maker's Mark Private Select, which came from a run done for a liquor chain called Mammoth Liquors in Kentucky. It's lovely. I enjoyed that for the first dram and now I'm a few pours into the 1.75 of good old fashioned Maker's Mark. If there's anything left in that bottle when tomorrow morning comes, I'll call that a win.

Wife-to-be and our good friends are enjoying some some sort of fancy Pinot Grigio that'd be lost on me but supposedly pairs well with the delicious pasta my fairer half made to feed us all. She's awesome like that.
