View Full Version : Can't upload images

For a while now, whenever I've tried to upload an image to a post in my training journal it just silently fails. Any ideas?

I get that sometimes with TapaTalk. No issues with iPad running FireFox, or Linux Mint, also running FF.

What browser are you running?

This is on Chrome on desktop.

I should note that I've uploaded a lot of images, particularly to my journal, but I'm a site supporter and I'm not getting any quota messages.

Same for me. Checked the browser console and it's showing HTTP 403 errors on newreply.php, so maybe a permission issue on the server side.

I just tried and I am not able to upload images either.

I select file and click upload file and it just goes nowhere.

I now seemed to have caught at least part of this bug: I can upload images, but can no longer upload an attachment.

Example, Linux running FireFox, I can't upload a 33 kb PDF file. The upload manager comes up, I select the file, then "upload". I get nothing after that. Have also tried this using an iPad and FireFox, with exactly the same results.

I could not upload attachments earlier today and I'm having trouble seeing attached images now.

It's been happening to me for a few days but I thought it was me.

I’ve now lost the ability to post images. IPad running FireFox.

Just got that one uploaded but earlier today I couldn't get anything uploaded (iphone/FF) and I assumed it was lousy service. Just tried on desktop/FF and only this pic loaded, the first attempt with a different pic went nowhere.

Oops, I was off. I'm seeing HTTP 403 (https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTTP/Status/403) errors on newattachment.php.

Still no joy on uploading a 33 kB pdf file via FireFox on an iPad.

Still no joy on uploading a 33 kB pdf file via FireFox on an iPad.

Retried via my desktop Linux Mint box running FireFox just now. Still no joy on that method either.

I click on "attachments", then the FireFox window for attachment management opens up. I do see all my previously uploaded attachments. I click on "add a file", navigate to the folder containing the PDF file, then select. I select Upload, and there is a very brief flash of text at the bottom left that is over in less than 100 ms, then the screen reverts to normal i.e. as if I'd never selected "add a file". I'd also tried this same procedure on my iPad running FireFox, after I sent the PDF to my iPad via email. No luck there either.

Just tried a jpeg, that worked, so my only current issue is can't upload attachments.

Pictures seem to be working also.

I have a different problem now. I am trying to post images to my for-sale ad, but it says I do not have privileges to do so. So I am not sure if I can load images yet.

Edit. I tried uploading images in a different thread and it works, so this is based on not having permission in For Sale threads. So I learned I cannot edit the original post and can post images in a reply. So it is working normally.

This still isn't working for me. I'm wondering if it has to do with my account.

The request to newattachment.php shows as cancelled in the dev tools Network tab, and the response says "Failed to load response data".

When attempting to upload an image while posting, I get an HTTP 403 error in the console (probably a permissions thing on the server side). Basically I choose the image, hit upload, and the pop-up disappears as if nothing happened. This is on desktop, on Windows.

I had trouble uploading one image. What happened is that when clicking upload there was a wait and then I ended up back in the reply to thread page without an attachment link. So I took a look at that image and realized it was over 12MB. Edited to a more reasonable size (sorry about that, I hadn't realized this new phone creates quite that large image files), image posted normally.

So not exactly the same issue as I didn't notice any error message, but might be worth the time to check the size of the file you are trying to upload?

The Gallery forum was the only one I tried.

*Edit*: Just tried this one as well, and same thing. HTTP 403 error on newattachment.php. Seems like it might be the same problem that was had I think a few months ago.

Finally had time to log on from home...same blocking occurred, same message as above.

I'm barely computer literate, so I've never messed with P-F settings, don't have add blockers or any add on security...no se.

Tried to upload an image from my laptop this morning and couldn't. I've uploaded images before with no problem, I tried four times with no luck. It was a .jpg file, 4.17 meg size, using Win 10 with current updates at about 0945 Central.

I've noticed that images over a certain size couldn't be uploaded from my chromebook, but needed to be hosted elsewhere and linked to. I'm not exactly sure where the cutoff is, but I think it was around 1 meg.

Did it time out or was there an explicit error?

Neither, the "attach" thing (and therefore the attachment) just didn't appear. I gave it a couple of minutes to upload each time.

Recently (for a few weeks), when I try to upload an image I get an error message that says that the .jpg image exceeds my quota by "X" amount.

I've used Paint 3D to reduce the canvas size, but this makes the picture the size of a postage stamp.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thank you.

The quota hasn't changed in a long time. You can re-up or delete some images.

Looks like max image size requirements have changed? They seem to be 100kb max size for a jpg - I know this was larger in the past, as most of my photos were around 500k-1mb after shrinking and cropping, and they were able to be uploaded. I just went to look at the photos I had in my account (which requires me to start a new post still, for some reason) and lo and behold...a bunch of my photos were deleted/removed :( The only ones left were ones at/around 100kb in size.

edit - screenshot of limits: 108412

Further edit - it seems the actual size of the images has a limit now too that I don't remember being there? I know I've posted larger things before...
