Who has a Smith M15 snubnose?

I've had one for several years, carry it occasionally and sometimes use it as a house gun.

It shoots well and I like the balance and feel better than either my 2.5 inch M19 or my short M66. My son shot it at 100 yards and hit a silhouette target we had posted at that distance. I then tried it and missed high by three or four inches. Not too shabby for a snubnose .38!

When I go to the range the M15 is usually in the gun case. It's a very fun gun to shoot.

I am a big M15 fan and have often competed with several at various gun games in the past. In my case however the 2" version did not rock my boat. The larger square grip and high sights were disconcerting to me. It shot well but I was much happier with my 4" guns.

The round butt model 10 M&P 2" or the round butt model 19 2.5" Combat Magnum were more my style for looks, feel and carryability. The round butt better fit my hand with a Tyler T-grip adapter and concealed better under a jacket. The short barrel on the 10 looked better to me with the fixed sights but the 2.5 " M19 had a better look with the higher adjustable sights. The M15 snubby just did not meet that aesthetic standard with me. It did shoot well and I certainly would not turn one down but I doubt I will go looking for one though.

I have rubber Uncle Mike's grips on my snub 15.
When I've carried it it was mostly in a coat pocket in a Mika pocket holster.
The square butt was no problem there.

Gun feel is as subjective as gun looks, eh?

IMO the S&W K frames have become a lost treasure to many shooters, be they 2" or 6" or anything in-between. A couple of my favorite shooters are still K frames, a Mdl 18 and a Mdl 65. With the current autoloader craze lots of folks jsut haven't had the pleasure of shooting a good K.

I like to take a case of revolvers to the indoor range at the local university during open shooting. It's fun to watch younger shooters eye them. A few have told me, "I've never shot a revolver." A few minutes later they couldn't say that any more. :D

The Chief when I hired on carried a model 15 2", he always qual'd with the center chewed out of the target. The gun was very accurate and he could certainly shoot it well.

I have a 2" model 10, round butt. I had the hammer bobbed and the trigger slicked up a bit. A nice, but heavy, snub.

One of these days I'm going to come across a 3", round butt model 13. I have no idea what I might do with it, but I want one.

A buddy of mine recently sold off a 3" round butt model 65, and he didn't ask me first.

I may never forgive him.

FWIW, after trying a friends 3" and like you having trouble finding one, I took a 4" and converted it from square to round-butt. Then I found out I actually preferred the 4" RB to the 3" RB.

I'm sure a 4" shoots better, but those 3" rb's just look so cool :)

Rich,

I've always wanted a 3" M13, so if you come across 2 of them, let me know:-)

I have a 3" RB M65 that I got from a buddy from my first police department. $25, if I recall correctly, and it is one sweet gun. Bobbed hammer, slick action, and accurate as all get out.

As far as the M15 goes, well, I've always wanted one of those as well - it's a shame that Smith stopped making them so quickly.

I hope I run across a snub M15 in nickel one of these days.

For those of you wishing you had a 3" K frame;

I don't have a model 15, but I carried a 4" Model 15 when I was in the Air Force. I still need to get one of those.

It's not quite a Model 15, but back home I have a 2" model 64 that I just love.
I'll probably pimp it out- carry grips, bobbed hammer, and a Wolff mainspring to start.

Be sure to get the pearl carry grips, if you're gonna pimp it out. Something along these lines :)

If you have the means, I highly recommend one. They are so choice (http://cosmolineandrust.blogspot.com/2008/01/sunday-smith-32-model-pc-13-1995.html). :D

Mine is currently serving as the world's classiest bedside heater...

1st POST: Have had a Model 15-3 2" in Nickel for decades. Great action, very accurate IMHO for a snub, never have had to adjust the sights, everything seems to pretty much go to the point of aim, K-Frames are among the finest S&W's IMHO unless you are shooting 1000's of HOT .357 mags a month. Then extra "heft" of a L-Frame really comes into play.

Cheers!

Heirloom and John, get out of my head that is exactly how I envisioned tricking out my K frames down to the front sight. They are just sick! :-)

What's even better is got to fondle them at SHOT a few years back.

So when is Heirloom delivering yours?

If I was to actually fondle them rather than just drool on the computer screen, my wallet would be much lighter, from both the cost of the guns and the pending divorce. :o

Not any time soon. Luckily, however, I have the pleasure of calling Jason Burton, Ted Yost and Steve Bailey friends. When I need one...I'll be able to get one.
