Anyone familiar with Les Baer Custom ARs will know historically a hammer and punch have been necessary to knock the take down pins out. This new Supermatch in 6x45 however, while not "sloppy" like a milspec fit, can be disassembled with fingers only! I'm not sure how to feel about this though, as Baers should need tools to disassember (IMO).

Enjoy the pics:

The upside: It is an actual, honest to god, can shoot on demand 0.5" groups (10 shots @ 100yrds) all day every day AR. These aren't as common as internet forums would lead one to believe. I've seen enough "0.5MOA RRA Varminters" that will do between 0.5" and 1". This, like most LBCs will do a solid 0.5MOA at 100yrds with good ammo and optics.

The downside: It weights tons. The price of accuracy, I suppose.

Cheers!

Do they still put the castle nut on backwards?

Nice rifle.

I don't think anyone has proven that a super tight upper to lower fit will affect accuracy one way or the other. My custom built varmint AR could shoot five shots into an inch at 100 yards and I could push the pins out by hand.

Oh, I agree. Similarly, you don't have to have a 1911 barrel bushing so tight you need a metal bushing wrench to turn it, but that's just a Les Baer Custom.

Sounds very accurate. Is that with handloads? I'm not sure how available 6x45 ammo is to begin with.

Gonna be hard to tell since that rifle doesn't have one ;)

I wonder why the vents on the handguard face downward but not up?

Perhaps to try minimizing heat mirage?

I've only shot a good barrel enough to worry about mirage once - that was on a prairie dog town in SD. That gun shot in the 4s before I left and in the 6s when I got back. I'll never do that to a rifle with a good barrel again.....
