I'll be back when someone gets all 4 right in order, chambering and grains.

All of these were shot into water.

Not a terrible guess, but all four are pistol chamberings.

One out of 4 correct.

#3 was a surprise when I recovered it. I think I actually LOL. Jacket is peeled all the way back to cover up the base of the bullet, which is why it isn't sitting on its base neatly like the others.

My guess:

147 9mm, 124 +P 9mm, 158 .357 magnum, 230 +P .45

Good guess!

#3 is a.357 load, but not the 158 grain, #4 is the standard 230 grain 45ACP, fired from my Kahr CW45.

All the of the first 3 were fired from my 640. That should make things easier. 😁 I don't think I've seen anyone claim to carry or use loads #1 or #3 on PF.

So based on that hint:

#1 - .38 Special, 125 grain
#2 - .38 Special+P, 135 grain
#3 - .357 Mag, 125 grain

This is what I'm thinking as well...

So based on that hint:

#1 - .38 Special, 125 grain
#2 - .38 Special+P, 135 grain
#3 - .357 Mag, 125 grain

Add 10 grains to #3 and +p to #1 and you have it.

#1 .38+p 125 grain
#2 .38+p 135 grain
#3 .357 135 grain
#4 .45ACP 230grain

Penetration in water filled milk jugs of above:

#1 3
#2 4
#3 4
#4 4+stopped in 1st kitty litter jug after milk jug

My thoughts:1) water ain't ballistic gel 2) Gold Dots hold onto their jackets come hell or high water -- Critical Defense 9mm and .38 shed petals of their jackets in water, .357 125 grain sjhp fragments into 2 big bits and jacket bits.

I think I will try the .357 load in a 6" GP 100 next. I would imagine the velocity is at least 100 fps greater than a 2" barrel. I have a feeling it may be actually slower shot out of our Winchester, but we shall see what happens in water.

A very close guess as well!

#2 and #3 are "short barrel" loads, in case that was unclear.
