Getting back into the j-frame game once again and seeking a quality holster. There are a metric shit ton of old/older threads on this topic and 3/4 + of the recommended holster manufacturers no longer exist. My criteria in order of importance are:

1. Kydex
a - Single offset tuckable clip
b - Minimalist

Google brings up some decent results matching what I'm looking for but I haven't heard of most of them, lead times are long (i.e. Chris Costa and Travis Haley just recommended our gear long) or way more money than I'm willing to pay. I understand demand is likely low for j-frame holsters which keeps stock low.

I have a couple of pocket holsters but I lack the pocket space to accommodate. Happy to hear your recommendations.

Looks like the Apollo would work.

Zulubravokydex. You have to contact him on Instagram but it uses a single DCC clip and has a claw type feature. Dark star gear one is excellent as well but I preferred the zulubravo holster. 58260

I don’t typically carry it appendix, but that holster is working very well for me.

I’ve also been very happy with my DSG holster for my 642.

Who makes those bottom left grips? Thoughts?

Those are the Piranha grips from Hogue. They are G10 and very grippy. Great shape to them. Downside is that they are heavier then polymer.

Take a look at Harry’s Holsters too.

I have a Harry’s Holsters Icon for my 442 and a DSG Apollo for my LCR. I like and use both of them. The Icon seems to sit a little lower and conceal better for me. It is also less wide which helps for me with concealment. The Apollo works for me but sits a little higher making it a little more difficult for me to conceal. The difference in concealment could also be attributed to the different revolvers as well, I have not tried an Apollo for a j-frame and Harry’s Holsters does not make holsters for LCRs the last time I checked so I haven’t been able to do an apples to apples comparison.

I love Dark Star Gear and the Apollo is great. But I'm really pleased with the Zulu Bravo Kydex holster shown on page one. I'm sitting on my couch in gym shorts as I type this, wearing an M&P340 in one.

Blackhawk A.R,C. 20.00 bucks. I've used mine with complete satisfaction for 3 years.

With my .38 LCR, I use the PHLster City Special if I’m wearing a belt, and a DSG Apollo if I’m not.

I find that the wider, more offset belt loop on the DSG holster helps tuck in the grip when the only force being applied is from the drawstring of my gym shorts. Conversely, the stiffness of my Graith Specialist belt seems to hold the same offset loop away from my body so the grip doesn’t tuck as well.

I added some Velcro to both of them. I use a pretty substantial foam wedge on the Apollo and just a flat pad on the City Special.

I wish PHLster made a 3” model of the City Special.

Correction, forgot that I switched to similar medium thickness wedges on both. When you experiment with a lot of holsters, you end up with a lot of wedges to play with.

I also have a Harry's Holsters Icon, and I switched to an alternate DCC clip (Mod4, I think?) that lets it sit a little lower for a elastic waistband minimalist deal:

I also have a DSG I like a lot as well, and I have a JMCK IWB-3 zero degree on the way.

Thanks for these! Going to have to order a 3.2" Apollo to experiment with and and an Apollo also. I am going back to carrying 2 or 3 revolvers again a lot of days (what can I say, I met Mike Pipes ) and I really needed something IWB for a 3" j - frame. With the Icon riding a little lower it looks like it might make an interesting tuckable option with one of DCC behind the belt clips.

Not that I've seen. He seems to be swamped with blade work right now.

Anybody know who made this one? It was in a small pile of used kydex I got off of eBay cheap. Seems solid and slick. Going to swap the clip for a dcc behind the belt one.

Phlster and Dark Star got the nod. The Phlster wound up on the enigma, as it's holster is better suited for it. The Darkstar remains as a convenience holster.
