Gen4 Glock 41 longslide .45acp.
I bought this thing for some reason a year ago or so, shot it a few times then forgot what my plans for it were and stuck it in the safe.
Got it back out today because my 9mm ammo stash is getting thin and I still have a lot of .45 just sitting on the floor and I wanted some Glock practice.
It's a damn laser and really soft shooting (especially with the chonky Surefire X35 mounted out front).
Had a blast burning through 200 rounds or so.
Now I just need to remember why I bought the damn thing.

I’ve got a G41 like yours. Shoots like a laser, lives in the safe. No idea what I’m going to use it for. Got a G30, same same.

Love my G41 it's my pistol league bullseye gun. I run 200 grain SWC though it. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200728/331942d8a133afc48caecb51d29df9ee.jpg

I have lost track of how many guns I have, that at some point in time I had a good reason for, but now forgot what it was. The guns are still there though. The next six months is going to be an incredible seller’s market to clear extra stuff out.
Back to .45, the ones that interest me today are the HK USP FS and HK45C, but not to shoot acp with.

My Gen 3 and 4 G21’s were always more accurate than should be expected from a plastic pistol. I really want a G41 just because. But I’m holding out for a Gen 5.

I use my G41 for the local bowling pin matches. It surprises me in how accurate it is and soft shooting.

I have one and enjoy shooting it. I bought it as a potential duty gun and have not used it that way. That is what I told myself when I bought it.

Since it’s been out for a hot minute now, I was contemplating getting either a G21 or a G41 to shoot GSSF Heavy Metal. Which one should I be looking at?

I don't believe you can use the G41 in heavy metal. Either the G21 or G30. I would go with the G30 and you can use it in Subcompact and MajorSub also.

G21 and G41 are fantastic pistols. Easily the most pleasantly surprising shooter in my estimations

I’m leaning more toward the G21. I’ve not shot the G30, but the G36 pinched the crap out of my pinky finger in recoil between the frame and magazine base plate.

The G30 and G36 are completely different. I shoot my G30 as well as my G21. I would try both out before you make a decision. (I sold my G36)

Interesting. I’ll have to see if I can find a place that rents a G30 to give it a shake. If you had to choose, would you do the G30 or the G30S?

The G41 is fantastic. It fits my hands perfectly - so much so that I've thought about building the grips on up my G17s until they're about the same dimensions. If I ever get around to loading .45 it'll be the first gun I buy.
If the gun ever needs to go to a more loving home, let me know...

Not steve but the G30 is very pleasant to shoot. To me, the 30S is less so, but better than the 36.

If it was for carry a G30s. For use in GSSF a Gen4 30 or Gen 3 30SF. The slide mass makes it much quicker to shoot. I have shot multiple categories using my Gen4 30. The only negative is the ammo cost vs the 9mm.

I bought a used G41 a couple years ago. Nothing wrong with it but the sights, which I changed. Shot it with a variety of ammunition an liked everything about it. A year or so later I realized I wasn't shooting it - at all. Eventually sold it to buy something else. Such is the life of a gun tester and experimenter. (smile)

I bought a 41 a few years ago to replace my 21 as a 3 Gun, heavy division pistol. Like everyone else has said- it's incredibly accurate. I don't know why, but it will shoot 230gr Gold Dots into 1.5" at 25 yards. I really like that it fits in a GLS 34 size holster. Carry would be problematic, but if you want a super accurate .45 ACP range or duty pistol, that costs a quarter of a decent 1911, I highly recommend the 41.
Bumping a semi-old thread. Is there any reason to not pick up a 41? My local enabler just received one. I have a stash of 45 that far exceeds my stash of 9mm. I had planned at some point to pick up a 21 but the 41 is pretty interesting. I'm a huge 1911 fan but it seems like I should have at least one full-sized plastic fantastic capable of launching 45 too. I was this close to buying another 1911 but now I'm having second thoughts. Had a lot of fun at a steel challenge match yesterday with my Operator.
Follow-up question...Is the 41 allowed in GSSF heavy metal? Or does it get bumped to competition like the 34 does?

I own both a G41 and G21. The G41 fits in all my G34 holsters and it is just a fun gun to shoot. With that being said the G21 has less recoil. I am using my G41 in USPSA because I have some extra 45 ACP ammo and it is as I said fun to shoot. You can't use it in Heavy Metal just the G21, 30, 20, 29 or 37. The 21 will have more versatility in that area but so would a Glock 30. So other than the additional recoil issue (which isn't bad) I would buy it.

No reason other than I would hold out for a 41 MOS.

I’m very fond of my 41. It got carried a lot when I lived in IL, sometimes even IWB. Mine is soft shooting and accurate as hell.

As a long time G34 fan, the G41 is intriguing to me. Time was that the preferred alternative caliber for Glock 9mm was its .40 analog, in order to keep holster commonality. While GEN3/4 .40s are certainly still available, it is interesting to me that GEN5 .40s are no longer holster compatible with their 9mm equivalent, but with the G41 there's a .45 ACP option that can ride in G34 kydex. I don't have any .40s, but I stock .45 for my 1911, and as others have mentioned, my current .45 supply exceeds my 9mm supply. A G41 MOS has a lot of appeal.

If the Glock 21 has less recoil, what is the point of the 41?
I know I’m missing the obvious lol, but please help me find it.
Heck the Glock 41 intrigues me.

Longer sight radius with irons, fits G34/35 holsters and comes in an MOS version.

The G41 is a nice pistol. But to be honest the G21 is a bit easier to shoot as the heavier slide soaks up recoil a little better than the G41. If you want a longer sight radius and a little extra velocity the G41 is a good option. It's also a little slimmer than the G21 and fits some of the same holsters as a G34/G35. But you will notice recoil and muzzle rise a little more with the G41 than the G21 -- or at least I do.

This is my experience as well. If considering a G21, i would buy the gen4.

These are all the reasons it is appealing to me too. The 41 doesn't seem to be very popular. And for that reason, I don't see Glock ever releasing an MOS version. But it's always a possibility. I don't know what MAP is but the one I found is listed for under $600. Seems reasonable.

Uhmmmm The Glock 41 MOS has been available for several years and is currently available.

While the G41 is inherently interesting (especially due to its ability to fit in a G34 holster-of which I already have one, hmmm......), from an MOS standpoint, the longer slide length is irrelevant, unless you want increased velocity from the longer barrel. For me, a big advantage of and MOS is that you DON"T need the longer slide length, as there are no derivative benefits from the MOS standpoint (althought if you're primarily going to use irons, and want the capability of throwing on an MOS at some point, it certainly isn't a disadvantage to have that capability).
I really like the idea of a MOS G45-shorter slide, full-size receiver, arguably placing the platform in the sweet spot in several areas.
Best, Jon
