Original .22 Browning Challenger front sight pin

I need a new front sight pin for my original .22 Browning Challenger (1970). I have called ALL the usual new and old part suppliers, seems to be unobtanium. The pin is .250 long and .058 dia, at least the hole is. Short of making a new one, any thoughts?

A No. 54 drill bit is .055". Might be close enough to Loctite a quarter inch of the shank. Or sand down a No 53.

There is .058" spring wire but I don't know where you would find a small piece.
