I've been wanting one of these for a while and waded into a Gunbroker knife fight to get this one. Of course I won.

Very nice specimen of a fighting K frame...the Performance Center Model 13. To my knowledge there were only 400 of these made so they're pretty hard to come by and command a premium when you find one like most PC pre-lock S&W revolvers from the early and mid 90s.

Now I need that good wood so if someone wants to come off:D a pair of Spegels and donate them to my new child speak up now.

Damn, that is a slick shooter. Congrats!

That might be the first ported revolver I've ever found desirable. Congratulations.
Do keep the grips it's got.
They are the best rubber ones yet made for a Smith & Wesson.

Nice. That could get me back into 357mag.

A friend of mine has one of those. He purchased it new, right after they came out. It was a dramatic purchase, in that his wife flipped out over him buying yet another gun. He had a "come to Jesus" talk with her and straightened her out. He's still got the gun and the wife.

Nice blaster. Love a 3" K RB.

Dang, that would go nicely with my 3" M13.. Yes I agree, first ported revolver I would buy. And those Uncle Mike's/Speigal grips are no longer made, I search ebay for used examples for all my revos.

SouthNarc,

Just go get on the Spegel list and wait. It's worth it.

I concur, these are the original UM grips designed by Craig Spegel before the split.

Great score!

Yeah man that's what everyone says.

And, I'd suggest you order more sets than you need. It takes a while to get them, you're going to love them and want more and they don't lose value.

I would love to know what kind of velocity one of the full tilt 125g JHP 357 Mag loads would deliver out of that ported barrel. As other's have said, I don't like ported barrels (differentiated from comped barrels) but that is one cool, good looking revolver.

Those are Spegels you have on there and are functionally as good as they get for a K-frame.

Wood for show, rubber for go.

Uncle Mikes also made the shorter boot grip style for RB K frames. Hard to find. eBay has a pair of Uncle Mike's K frame RB to SB grips currently available. Actually if you think you might want some of the Uncle Mike's versions of Spegel's work, I wouldn't put off buying some. They haven't been made in a while and are all getting more expensive and harder to source. I prefer the rubber versions for j frame ankle carry.

here's a pair of the shorter Uncle Mike's boot grip on a Model 64:

I find it depressing that every really good S&W revolver out there (pre-lock, yada, yada, yada) costs more than my first car, a used '67 VW Bug. (LOL)

It has reached the point where final prices on nice pre lock K and N frame Smith & Wesson revolvers on Gunbroker (and probably all the auction sites, but I only frequent Gunbroker) start at about $1000 and go up from there. Decent J frames can still be had for a lot less. You can find cheaper K frames, but they will be common models (like model 10 4” square butts) that were rode hard and put away wet.

Meh....😉. In all seriousness....great gun and I sent some really nice wood Ahrends selected just for Craig today.

Ack! Shave half that and I'd be in.

And here I am over in the corner thinking: “man, that's not too bad...I wonder if I’d get outbid...”

Add the custom touches (chamfered holes, DAO, action hone, finish) to any decent stock 3” K, and you’re already past the current bid.

As an aside, I’m digging the irony of the shooting from the 2 master falling head over heels for a ported .357.

As an aside, I’m digging the irony of the shooting from the 2 master falling head over heels for a ported .357.

I discussed that a little via texts with Craig. I am actually carrying a ported revolver a lot these days. One reason I love the power ports is the large hole works on volume more than velocity and it is not a big deal shooting them in close. The small ports like Magna Port work well but the work off velocity and they are a different ball game and you need to be aware of the gas leaving. The benefit to a revolver over an auto in this stuff is instead of clearing back to the two, you can bury the muzzle in your opponent and let them take the whole thing including all the muzzle blast.
