Sheriff's deputy is conducting a routine traffic stop when a bicyclist gets hit by a car right in front of him.
This mainly caught my attention because of how well the cop handled the situation. As a normal joe, I'm seriously impressed with how he was able to handle a rather chaotic situation in a very calm and professional manner. Kudos to him there.
This really makes me want to get back into doing EMT work!

Good reaction but man, that cop is obese.
Too bad he wasn't wearing a helmet.

I wonder if the cyclist was moving out of the way of the open car door.

JV, my thoughts exactly!
He's biking past a traffic stop with TV cameras and where people are getting removed from the car. Most people that can see what's going on are probably distracted - it'd be easy to miss a bike in that situation.
If I approach a traffic stop like that, I'll keep my distance, and probably take a different route.

Yeah, GTFO has a time and place, this is one of them. Alternatively if I were unable to ride to the right of it, as it appears, I would dismount and walk past it looking at traffic in my lanes. My 750 lumen helmet light generally catches attention when pointed at cars.
